Harrah's Pepsi 400 at Daytona Preview

Saturday night, Robby Gordon and crew will try to blast their way through the pack en route to a win on Independence weekend. The Robby Gordon Motorsports Chevrolet will again sport the familiar Purple and Yellow of Harrah's Casinos and Resorts for this patriotic event. As a fan of Robby's, I'm quite excited, as I was in Talladega when RGM scored their best finish of the season with a 10th in the Aaron's 499 on a hot Monday after rained cancelled the race on Sunday.

Luckily for RGM, the team doesn't have to worry about making the race, being safely within the top 35 coming in at 29th in the owners' standings. On what should've been a huge gain in points last weekend at Sonoma, the team actually lost points when a broken tie rod ruined Robby's hopes for a solid finish on possibly his best track. Hopefully the team will put forth a huge effort in making the car run fast in practice and then make a run at the pole, which Robby has been lacking since 1997 in Atlanta.

The fireworks in Daytona will start at 7:30 P.M. on FOX affiliates nationwide. The chasis run under the #7 will most likely be that which was run at Daytona and Talladega, and most likely will see action again at Talladega in October.

Robby Gordon Motorsports is sponsored by many great companies, including Menards and Jim Beam
