Man, what the days have been to me. As the hours have passed, I've contemplated school, relationships, and life in general. I have also pondered about the prospects of there being an afterlife and things like this. Mostly while listening to some great music. I just sit in my room when alone and watch the wildlife, as it fascinates me. I would like to one day start on a book, in which I could publish, kind of like a nature journal. I think it would be a good idea, but I'd have to start and get to work. Then find someone to publish and edit my tales, and finally pay to have it done. Probably wouldn't cut much of a profit, but it seems to be worth my while. My interest in reading has begun to spark once more as I have been venturing in to Henry David Thoreau's masterpiece, Walden. This is slowly climbing the ladder of my favorite works, and is coming close to being the top. The man had such a wonderful tale to tell, and I enjoy reading about a man who set out to live life in the woods to prove he could do it. Now as I sit here, just past 8 PM, I wonder "Is it possible to do what Thoreau did today, in 2006?" Most people would smite one for devising such a ludicrous plan. We, as a people, have become fixated on the simple luxuries of life: electricity, hot and cold running water, even cable television. All of these seem to be taken for granted until something takes them away, whether it's a natural disaster or some other rare occurrence. I, for one, am trying to get myself to truly understand what these mean to civilization. Can you imagine your town without these common, everyday luxuries? I certainly cannot fathom this idea, as my mind wouldn't comprehend such an event. However, I believe that society was in a better shape when people understood what everything meant to them. Now, most people take almost everything they get for granted, making a mockery of what our forefathers did in the past to earn this patch of land we call home.
