I woke up very early today since I'm three hours earlier here than at home. I'm going to try to keep that up so that I don't get used to sleeping till noon (home time).
I went out for breakfast since my cupboards were bare and then took a trip to Albertsons to stock up my kitchen. I arrived after dark yesterday so it wasn't until I went out today that I discovered the stunning hills all around us. Beautiful and stark and very impressive. I haven't taken any pictures yet but here's something similar I found online.
I spent the afternoon lounging by the pool in the perfect 25C/75F degree weather working on a cross-stitch project. It just couldn't be more perfect. That is, until...
I went to see
Cirque du Soleil's Ka at the MGM Grand this evening. I have never enjoyed a show as much as I enjoyed this one. I felt like a 5 year old who had wandered into a fantasy. It was amazing and awesome and I think I broke my face from smiling so much. I don't quite know how I pulled it off but my seat was dead centre and three rows from the stage. Which meant I was just a few feet away from the action. In fact, sometimes it felt a little too close. Like when the ship was being tossed at sea and when the giant igloo bird flew overhead and when the opposing forces battled on the edge of the stage and when ..... well you get the idea. The show was just delightful but the stage and the sets and the mechanics of how it all worked was really impressive and fascinating too. I still can't quite figure out how they moved up the vertical stage without any lines or ropes. It just defied explanation. Did I mention I was impressed?
