Toronto, ON - I took my Mom out for her birthday to see Cirque du Soleil's Alegria at Ontario Place the other night. I've seen a lot of little bits of Cirque du Soleil on TV before but seeing it live and in person was really cool. Canadian director Robert LePage was in Edinburgh during the Festival presenting his new film, but also recruiting for the Cirque. I saw an amazing street-act involving a 20-foot-high scaffold, a trapeze, two lengths of fabric, and a girl who hung from above apparatus by her ankles, her wrist, etc. without a net.

Wonder if she's auditioning.

One of the more impressive acts at Alegria was a guy who did an aerial routine using a long looped piece of fabric. It was not only very technically impressive but also quite beautiful with the red silky fabric billowing about as he flew.
