Yuletide 2010 Prompts

Thick of It (UK)
I'd love to see days in the life of Malcolm and Sam. Sam's one of my favourite characters, and I really like how she's the only person in Whitehall who's truly not afraid of Malcolm, and how she's the only person he seems to genuinely like. (The "Happy birthday, Malcolm" scene from series 3 kills me every time, both for the humour of it and the fact that there's really something a bit sad and touching about it all, the full impact of which is not clear until the revelation that it was Malcolm's 50th birthday.) I'd like to see some vignettes of the two of them together, not in a shippy way, but as friends and longtime boss-and-assistant. Another thing I'd like to see is: Malcolm and Nicola in the wake of Labour's shellacking in the general election: what is Malcolm going to do to survive, how has Nicola been affected by this, is there even the slightest grain of warmth between them, or are they simply going to go their separate ways now? Malcolm and Nicola have a really interesting relationship to me, because while he's just as nasty and sweary to her as everyone else, the fact that she's female and strong-willed in her own way gives it all an extra something else. (Not necessarily UST, although sometimes I wonder if Nicola doesn't nurse a tiny, vehemently-denied crush somewhere deep inside her heart.) Some combination of all of the above is, of course, welcome.

Elric Saga - Michael Moorcock
Any Elric story at all would be brilliant-from a straightforward hack-and-slash missing scene from one of his adventures to just a quiet glimpse of him and Moonglum hanging out between adventures and talking about the things they don't normally discuss. If an Elric saga adventure sans Elric is an option, I'd also be interested to see further adventures in the life of Oone the Dreamthief. She clearly never crosses paths with Elric again (unless you believe as I do that she's Una Persson, and so meets up with him as Zenith, etc. in the Dreamthief's Daughter trilogy), but does she follow his adventures at all, maybe showing up on the scene after he's been and gone? What's life like for a dreamthief anyway?

Cornelius Quartet - Michael Moorcock
Honestly, just about any Cornelius story will make me happy. There are a lot of chaotic things going on the world right now that can be seen through the Cornelius filter: war in the Middle East, terrorism, environmental catastrophe, national financial ruin, a new austerity in Britain. How is Jerry adapting to these new lives and times, and how are his friends and lovers coping? Any other characters are welcome but Una, Jerry, Catherine, and Mrs C. are my favorites.
