If it helps, I'm told that a lot of that first story comes from a source that isn't the most reputable and seems to be exaggerating the danger. But that doesn't change just how scary and sad it is. :(
Yeah, it's pretty clear that it's a worst-worst-case scenario, possibly exaggeratedly so ... but even a small methane explosion at the site would just make things significantly worse, let alone anything more drastic, and fuck if this all isn't too depressing to talk about.
Whether there is any reality to the potential methane explosion/tsunami scenario, I'm long past the point of no longer being able to read anything about this disaster without risking my head exploding. I just can't wrap my head around it, and I can't stand to hear anymore.

I am far past outrage fatigue and have settled very much into, "Yup, we as a race have completely arsed this whole thing up." It boggles my mind that Mother Nature hasn't taken the opportunity to just smack us all off the face of the Earth already.
