Two years later
Ryu is now two years old. He had grown into a cute little toddler, his skin soft and silky like his mother’s. Ryu however looked more like his father, the resemblance were really close, he was a splitting image of the young Jin. Jin’s mother sometimes teased her son by calling Ryu ‘Jin’, causing the latter to blush in embarrassment. But unlike Jin, Ryu isn’t chubby.
“Hey, look who is here! It’s Jin!” Akanishi Hiromi exclaimed.
“Okaasan, stop that! Ryu’s not Jin! I …” Jin pointed to himself, “… am Jin.”
Hiromi smirked, opening the door wider to let the family of three in. “Come on in.”
It was a routine for Ryu to be dropped off early in the morning at his grandparents’ house, Jin and Kazuya’s parents taking turns each alternate week. It had been for the past two years. The couple had the money to send Ryu to a childcare centre but they preferred him to be taken care of by his own family. Ryu is a celebrity’s child so the both of them were really protective of him.
“So how’s Jin? I’ve not seen him for a week only and I missed him so much!” Hiromi yet again teased her oldest son.
“Okaasan!!!”
Kazuya chuckled, looking at her son in her arms. “It’s amazing though. Ryu really takes after Jin appearance wise but character wise, he’s more like me. Hmm, Ryu doesn’t have Jin’s fats though.”
“You’re joining Okaasan too?” Jin flashed Kazuya a disbelief look.
Hiromi shook her head in amusement, “Do you want any drinks before you go?”
“No, it’s okay. We’ll make a move first otherwise we’ll be late.” Kazuya tried to hand Ryu to his grandmother, only to have the baby grips onto her blouse tightly. Surprised, Kazuya tried to release the hold Ryu had on her, causing him to panic and wraps his small arms around her neck instead.
“Ryu …” Jin patted his son on the back.
“Ryu, mommy and daddy has to go to work. We have to earn money so that we’ll have a comfortable future together. Ryu understands this, right?” Kazuya coaxed her son gently, hoping that the other would listen to her.
“Don’t want! Want mommy!!!!! Want daddy!!!”
“Ryu, sweety … please …”
Ryu shook his head furiously, “Don’t want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
“You’ll get to play with …”
“Ryu don’t want!” The baby interrupted Jin, squiggling in his mother’s embrace. Ryu wailed when he was freed from Kazuya’s hold, and into his granny’s arms. “Mommy!!!” He screamed, trying to reach out for his mother.
“Ryu, please be a good boy. Mommy and daddy will pick you up after work, okay?”
“We’ll see each other in no time, Ryu.” Jin said.
Ryu shook his head, fidgeting.
“Let’s go, Jin.” Kazuya turned her back on her son, the two halted when they heard Ryu screamed loudly.
“WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!”
Kazuya frowned, wondering why Ryu would throw a tantrum on this day. Usually he would smile and waved them goodbye, but today, he didn’t even want his parents out of his sight. Ryu didn’t want them to leave him.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH! MOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMY!!!”
Kazuya turned to Jin worriedly, “Do you think we could bring Ryu to work just for today?”
Jin glanced back at his crying son and nodded. “I’m sure the staffs would love to help take care of Ryu, with the exception of our members, of course.”
Kazuya headed back towards Ryu and took him back in her arms, flashing her mother in law an apologetic look. “I’m sorry, okaasan. I don’t know what’s wrong with Ryu today. I guess he’ll have to follow us to work today.”
Jin nodded, picking up Ryu’s bag.
“It’s alright. Don’t trouble your parents, Ryu-chan!” Hiromi pinched her grandson’s nose lightly. Ryu hadn’t stopped crying though his cries were softer as he leaned his head on his mother’s neck.
“We’ll make a move first, okaasan.” Jin placed his free arm on Kazuya’s waist, leading them out.
Kazuya decided to sit at the back of the car with Ryu, seeing that the little one refused to stop crying. She placed him on her laps, positioning him in such a way that he was facing her. “Sssssh, stop crying, sweety. Mommy and daddy are still with you, right?”
“Ryu, here.” Jin handed his son Kazuya’s turtle plushy, the baby stopped crying as he looked at the item full of curiosity, hugging it. Kazuya flashed Jin a smile, pulling Ryu close to her as the car began moving.
“Do you know that this plushy is mommy’s most precious present from daddy, Ryu?”
-
“Good morning!”
T-TUN nodded, returning back the greeting as they smiled at both Kazuya and Jin. Their eyes widened however at the presence of Ryu in Kazuya’s arms. Almost immediately, they rushed towards the baby.
“RYU!”
“This is the first time you brought Ryu to work.” Nakamaru turned to face the couple.
“Yeah, we didn’t have any other choice. This cute guy here threw a tantrum today. We didn’t have the heart to leave him at his grandparents’, crying like that.” Kazuya answered, poking her son gently on the tummy. “Ryu, say hello to your uncles.”
“He-yo.” Ryu murmured.
“Hello, Ryu!!!”
Ryu’s eyes lit up, recognising the familiar voice. “Uncle Koki!”
The baby didn’t even protest when he was being transferred to Koki’s embrace, his bad mood was replaced by a bright smile on his face. “Uncle Koki, toy? Promise …” Ryu asked cutely.
“Hnn, Uncle Koki bought it already. Ryu wants to see it?”
“Want! Want!” Ryu nodded.
The parents of Ryu shook their heads, knowing very well that out all of the members it was Koki who dotes on Ryu the most. Taguchi followed Koki, Ueda doing his own thing while Nakamaru goes back to his make-up session. Kazuya and Jin settled down on their usual chair and starts applying make-up.
-
“Ryu, mommy and daddy has work now. Ryu stay with Yamada-san, okay?” Kazuya pointed towards the staff who agreed to take care of Ryu while KAT-TUN had their photo shoot and interview done. “Yamada-san will play with Ryu …”
Ryu’s lips quavered, shaking his head.
“Ryu.” Kazuya reprimanded her stubborn child. “Ryu already followed mommy and daddy to work. Our job is complicated, Ryu cannot disturb us. You understand, right?”
Ryu was silent, his gaze dropped to the floor. Thinking that she had Ryu’s agreement, Kazuya got up from the couch but before she could even make a step forward, Ryu wailed. The other members looked at Ryu in concern.
“This was what happened earlier.” Kazuya sighed, turning to look at Jin. “What are we going to do now? Do you think we should just leave Ryu here?”
“DON’T LEAVE!” The tears kept on pouring as Ryu handed out his hands.
“Let’s just bring Ryu to the studio. We’ll take turns taking care of him. Don’t worry about that.” Nakamaru suggested.
Jin nodded, walking towards his son. He lifted Ryu from the couch, holding him with just one hand. “You’re being really naughty today, Ryu. You can follow us but when we’re at the studio, behave, okay? If you don’t, you’ll be brought back here. Do you understand, little guy?”
Ryu nodded, sucking his thumb.
“Alright, don’t cry anymore.” Kazuya wiped away Ryu’s tears, kissing her baby on the cheeks.
“Hey, I want one too!”
Kazuya smirked, satisfying Jin’s request by planting a kiss on his lips.
-
“Kazuya, it’s your turn.”
Kazuya nodded, taking one last glance at her son who was busy playing with the rest of KAT-TUN members. She got up from her chair slowly, looking out for Ryu’s reaction at the same time. She heaved a sigh of relief when Ryu did not seem to mind her leaving him.
Koki took his seat, while Kazuya heads towards the set.
“Okay, we’ll start now!”
When it was time for a group shoot, Ryu was being carried by a staff. He watched in awe behind the cameras, seeing his parents and uncles posing. Though Ryu still does not understand what his parents’ job is, he smiled.
-
T-TUN returned to their dressing room, with Ryu. Kazuya and Jin had another separate interview and photo shoot to attend to. The baby was reluctant to let his parents go but after much persuasion, and seeing that T-TUN would be there with him, he agreed.
-
Jin stretched his arms tiredly as he entered the dressing room. He scanned the room, smiling when he sees Ryu playing happily with his friends. Kazuya was not back yet though, as it seemed. Jin took one of the lunch boxes and settled down on the couch, indulging on his food.
“Ryu, that’s amazing!”
“Ryu, pass me the ball!”
Ryu however did not pay any attention to them, his eyes wanders around the dressing room. His lips formed into a smile when he spots his father sitting on the couch. Ryu got up almost immediately, and ran towards Jin, ignoring the calls from T-TUN.
“Ryuuu!!!”
“Daddy!” Ryu’s hands touched Jin’s thighs.
“Hey, there!” Jin placed his lunch box aside as he picked Ryu up to his arms. “How are you, dear? Have you eaten?”
Ryu nodded.
“Was it delicious?”
“Hnn!” Ryu nodded once again. “Daddy, want milk!”
“Milk? Okay, wait here.” Jin placed Ryu on the couch. He grabbed Ryu’s bag and took out a bottle of milk, warming it in a bowl of hot water for awhile, ensuring that it was the right temperature before heading back to Ryu. “Here you go, Ryu.”
Ryu took the bottle in his hands instantly, drinking heavenly. Once Jin settled back on the couch with his lunch box, Ryu shifted onto his laps. Despite having difficulty to eat with Ryu on his laps, Jin smiled, seeing the serene expression on his baby’s face.
“You’re so cute.”
-
Kazuya finally finished her photo shoot half an hour later. After she had thanked the staff, she headed back towards KAT-TUN’s dressing room. The sight in front of her warmed her heart greatly, noticing that her two babies had fallen asleep on the couch. Jin lied on the couch with Ryu on his chest, his arms protectively held his baby’s waist.
Kazuya brushed Ryu’s hair lovingly, kissing him on the forehead. She did the same to Jin too. That action caused Jin to stir but was not awoken from his sleep. Kazuya grabbed her clothes and entered the bathroom to change. She came out of the bathroom five minutes later, feeling much more comfortable in her own clothes.
“That’s weird. Where did they go?” Kazuya murmured, realising that T-TUN were not in the room. “Must have had gone to their respective jobs.” She silently thought.
Kazuya took a seat on the couch on the other side of the dressing room, checking the messages on her phone. Jin and her had a very light schedule on this day so by now they could already head back home. She didn’t have the heart to wake Jin and Ryu up though. They looked so peaceful in their sleep.
Glancing at the clock, Kazuya decided to give the two another half hour before waking them up.
-
It wasn’t difficult waking Jin up but Ryu, being only two years old, had refused to flutter his eyes open, still deep in sleep. Kazuya sighed, leaving Jin with the task to wake their son up. She was going to pack their stuffs. Jin bent down, and patted Ryu who was sprawled on the couch.
“Ryu, it’s time to go home.”
“Hnnn ....”
“Ryu.” Jin shook the baby slightly harder.
“Sleep … no disturb … daddy …” Ryu mumbled out.
“Ryu, if you don’t wake up, mommy and daddy are going to leave you here alone.”
Despite the fake warning, Ryu still remained asleep, not even stirring. Kazuya placed her hand on Jin’s shoulder, saying that it’s okay. She handed him Ryu’s bag before making a move to carry Ryu up onto her arms. Ryu stirred but soon relaxed, finding comfort on his mother’s embrace.
“Let’s go home.”
-
Kazuya put on some powder on Ryu’s face, smiling at her now refreshed son, having had his bath.
“You smell really nice!” She tickled her son, pulling him into a hug.
“Hehe … Really?”
“Hnnn.” Kazuya nodded, getting up on her feet with Ryu on her arms.
“Mommy, where daddy?”
“Daddy is watching television in the living room.”
“Cartoon?” Ryu exclaimed excitedly. “Mommy, want watch cartoon!”
“I don’t know if your daddy’s watching cartoon right now but if he’s not, ask him politely that you want to watch cartoon, alright? Don’t be rude to daddy.” Ryu nodded as Kazuya placed him down on the floor. “Go on, mommy will join you soon.”
Ryu heads to the living room in a cute manner, clapping his hands.
“Daddy …”
Ryu stood in front of his father, his eyes blinking as he whispered out, “Daddy, want watch cartoon … Please?” He touched Jin’s hand.
Jin had been watching a movie half way but seeing the request from his beloved son, as well as having seen the puppy eyed expression on Ryu, he couldn’t say ‘No’, could he? Ryu certainly behaves like Kazuya. They have the talent in charming him, not that he minds.
“Sure.”
“CARTOON!” Ryu said happily, trying to get up on the couch but to no avail. Jin chuckled seeing how Ryu struggled to get on the couch on his own. He helped out his son in no time. Taking the remote control, Jin changed the channel.
“Yay!!!”
Kazuya came into the living room with a tray of hot drinks ten minutes later. The hot chocolate was for Jin and her while the bottle of warm milk is for their baby, of course. Jin murmured his thanks, returning his gaze back to the screen soon after.
“For Ryu.” Kazuya handed Ryu his bottle.
“Thank …” His voice was overshadowed by the sound of him sucking onto his milk, quenching his thirst. As if out of habit, Ryu made a move to sit on Kazuya’s laps. He loved to sit on his parents’ laps actually.
Noticing the gap that existed, Kazuya scooted closer to Jin, and leaned her head on his shoulder. Jin instinctively reached out for his wife’s hand, planting a kiss on her forehead. The couple sat next to one another with Ryu on Kazuya’s laps, their gaze fixed onto the wide screen in front of them.
What a beautiful family, they are.
