“Kame..?”

His hand was reaching for the door knob of the main entrance when he heard a voice calling out his name. Surprised at the sudden interruption at wee hours, Kame froze in his action, and remained rooted to his original position.

He knew who it was, and he didn’t know how he should reply.

“Kame, where are you going at this hour?” Yamapi asked again. Once again, he felt the guilt in his heart, and he prayed that the latter wouldn’t give him the answer he feared the most.

If only I didn’t make such a stupid and rash move, things wouldn’t have gone so wrong. Kame, will you ever forgive me for causing you such pain?

“… I’m going home.” Kame painfully whispered, and turned to face Yamapi as he forced one small smile. Not saying anything else, Kame turned back and reached for the door knob again, but Yamapi was faster than him. The older man grabbed him by the shoulders and spun him around.

“Kame, everything is my fault.” Yamapi looked at him in the eye, his hand gripping Kame’s right shoulder firmly as he continued, “It doesn’t have to end like this. Let me fix everything back to normal. I’ll explain to Jin that ---”

“Look, it no longer matters to me. It’s already over.” Kame interrupted him before he could finish his sentence, and gave him a blank expression.

Yamapi’s heart sank to the bottom when he heard the younger man’s tone; it was so similar to someone who had given up on life… and it reminded him of the incident when Kame tried to jump off the cliff.

“Kame, please…”

“It’s all too late now, Pi.” There were tears in Kame’s eyes as he spoke. “No matter what you say, Jin won’t believe me, not anymore. I wonder if he ever truly believed in me and our love. I can’t take this anymore… I want to forget.”

Heaving out a sigh of regret, Yamapi looked at the smaller frame guiltily, “I was the one who started all this …”

“It was never your fault.” Kame said as he flashed Yamapi a very sad look. “It’s my fate.”

Yamapi’s heart ached so much when he heard that sentence. Though Kame did not blame him for his break-up with Jin, he clearly knew it himself that it was all his fault to begin with. It hurt to know how much pain he had caused the person he loves.

If he could turn back the time, he would.

Glancing to his friend who was determined to return to Tokyo, Yamapi had no choice but to relent and give in to his pleading.

However, he was worried about having the young man return to Tokyo alone, therefore he decided to send him home personally. Without even wasting a second, he made Kame wait for him near his car before he ran into the holiday house to retrieve his car keys.

For Kame, I would do anything.

----- ` -----

5.00am.

That was the time on the radio controller when Yamapi returned to the car.

As he fastened his seatbelt and was about to start the engine, Yamapi took a glanceto check on his friend, whose head was rested against the window, eyes closed, hands hugging his bag tightly to his chest.

It seemed as if Kame was holding on to his tears so that they wouldn’t spill across his cheeks. Yamapi knew that Kame was hurting badly. Although his words sounded nonchalant, Kame’s expression stated anentirely different thing. Especially the sadness and disappointment in his eyes…

Eyes never lie, fortheyare the windows to the soul.

Taking one last glance at him worriedly, Yamapi started the engine and maneuvered the car out of the garage slowly. Perhaps, it was better for Kame to take a breather away from the place that gave him both happiness and sadness.

As the car move across the little gravel track and turned onto the main street, Kame looked at the rearview mirror and saw the house shrinking as they moved away from the house.

Despite clenching his eyes tight, a single tear still managed to escape from Kame when he realized that this was indeed the end.

It’s really over.

----- ` -----

The master bedroom of the holiday house was filled with an eerie of silence and emptiness. The rising sun soon lighted up the bedroom, reflecting brightly against the king-sized bed that was neatly made.

Everything seemed to be in place, like before.

Underneath the dressing tablehowever laid a bottle of medicine, unattended. It was hardly noticeable; being hidden behind the legs of the chair, left untouched, and unseen. This item was something essential to Kame, for without it, the pain in his head would worsen.

He had accidentally left behind the painkillers for his headaches.

----- ` -----

“Good mor-…” Reo’s brain couldn’t process the shock he had when he entered the master bedroom and found that it was completely empty. He was worried about Kame when he didn’t find the usually figure making breakfast for everyone chirpily. He knew that Kame was very hurt by Jin’s words, but he didn’t expect the former to take action almost instantaneously. It was as though no one had stayed in the master bedroom before.

Everything was back to what it once was. Unoccupied.

Oh no, Kame has left.

Instinctively,Reo ran towards Yamapi’s bedroom, only to find it empty as well.

Thankfully, Reo was not someone who would react strongly to their first judgment. Being a rational person,he scanned the bedroom thoroughly as he analyzed the situation. As he recalled the scene when Yamapi had broken down, it was impossible that the latter would change his mind in the last minute, and chose to run away with Kame.

Yamapi was a man of his word.

All of Yamapi’s belongings were still in his room, Reo noticed. After doing much processing from the information he collected, he came to a conclusion that Yamapi had merely sent Kame back to Tokyo.

After all that had happened yesterday, it wasn’t impossible…

Stepping out of the room, Reo walked back towards his room, wanting to tell his brother about this, in hope that his brother would react strongly and do something about this.

Not sit around, and do nothing, like yesterday.

----- ` -----

Kame’s head started to pound in pain as he waited for his friend to come back from the convenience store. It had almost been two long hours of journey from Kyoto to Tokyo, therefore Yamapi had stopped by it to get both of them drinks to quench their thirst.

Holding the right side of his head, Kame searched frantically for his painkillers in his bag. Failing to locate it, he threw his bag onto the floor and slumped forward, his face contorted from the excruciating pain.

“Kame!” The car door opened that instant as Yamapi squatted next to him and flashed out a worried look.Leaning closer, he grabbed his friend’s bag and searched for that one important item.

“Kame, did you bring your painkillers along?”

He was met with silence, only painful gasps coming from Kame.

“Damn.” He whispered, when he realized that Kame had forgotten his medicine. Glancing at his friend who was evidently in a lot of pain, Yamapi was in a dilemma what to do.

“Kame …”

As the pain worsened, many flashbacks came by quickly to his mind. Those flashbacks came were more than the ones he would normally experience. It came by in one swift moment, and for just a brief second, he saw the real truth of the accident.

Everything became clear now. He remembered it all. But the pain was too much for Kame to handle, both physically and emotionally. Letting out a loud gasp, his eyes suddenly shut tight as he fell into unconsciousness.

“Kame!!”

----- ` -----

Clenching his fist in anger, Jin almost exploded in rage when he heard that Kame had return back to Tokyo, not alone … but with Yamapi. He felt like an idiot.

So much for wanting to believe that the two had nothing going on behind his back. This is the evidence.

“If you want me to believe that Pi is simply sending him, I won’t. I really would have given them a chance to explain to me today, but this … is just something I couldn’t tolerate anymore.” Jin said, looking at his younger brother with a dead glare.

“But why would Yamapi leave his belongings, onii-chan? If this was planned, he would have brought his luggage along, and not just abandon it. There’s actually more to what you think.” Reo tried to reason it out with his brother. He was not siding with anyone. He merely wanted nothing but the truth to sink in to Jin.

Shaking his head, Jin heaved out a soft sigh. “I don’t know what to believe anymore. Everything seems complicated.” Suddenly feeling cold, he rubbed his fingers to his arms, not wanting to talk about the matter anymore.

“Leave me alone, Reo.”

“One day, you’ll discover that you have wronged Kazuya-kun, onii-chan.” Reo whispered as he glanced at him sadly; he was clearly disappointed at his brother’s stubbornness. Without any hesitation, he walked out of the bedroom, leaving Jin all alone.

After Reo left the room, Jin’s eyes glanced towards the picture frame on the dressing table. After staring at it, and deliberating for some time, his hand reached for it, as he stared at the picture of Kame and him, taken right after their first date….

It was really memorable then.

Those were the happy days together, now it’s just a bittersweet memory.

----- ` -----

Kame remembered.

He remembered it all, the fateful accident that had torn two hearts apart, cold and broken, with only memories within them.

Now … alone in this hospital room, Kame stared into thin air, realizing that the discovered memories hurts like a thorn in his heart. If he knew it would turn out to be something he had never expected it to be, he wouldn’t want to remember the accident at all.

He had always thought that his lost memory was a cause by his accident. He never knew that it was not only his accident;it was Jin and his. That information and memory shocked him so much, as it was literally his fault to bring upon Jin’s current state.

It was my fault.

----- ` -----

It was late at night. Jin and him left together after work, hand in hand towards his lover’s car. There were smiles, and laughter brightening the dark area of the car park. Whenever they were together, there would be this glow of happiness surrounding them.

“Jin, you’re tired. I’ll drive, okay?” Kame smiled, encircling his arms around his boyfriend’s neck, tiptoeing slightly as he reached for a kiss on the lips. Jin simply placed his head on Kame’s shoulder, resting for awhile, holding him on the waist lovingly, and pulling him closer.

“My baby is so sleepy.” He teased. “Let’s get going.” Kame said after staying like that for a moment. With pouted lips, Jin nodded and got into the car. He had not bothered to fasten on his seatbelts, leaning against the soft fabric, facing his beloved with a cheeky look.

“I love you.”

Kame suppressed his smile, ignoring the interruption from Jin, as he started the engine, focusing entirely on driving. But from within the rearview mirror, one could see the smile on his face.

----- ` -----

“What the …” Kame murmured, as he noticed a fast approaching vehicle coming from in front them when it wasn’t even supposed to. He frantically tried to brake even if chances were high they were to collide with the other vehicle due to the narrow road.

Luck wasn’t with them.

It all happened too fast for Kame to comprehend, and react in time. He remembered glancing at Jin before a shining bright light hurt his vision for one short moment, hearing a loud bang as he felt their car being hurled a few distance before completely toppled upside down. The impact which jolted his body, the intense pain on his head…

Touching his head, and in that darkness, Kame realized that there was blood. Pushing away the throbbing pain on his head, he struggled to turn over and check out on his lover’s condition; his heart hurt when he saw Jin lying on top of the car’s front mirror, his body trapped between pieces of glasses, eyes tightly shut.

“Jin!” Kame cried out, hoping that the latter would hear him, and wake up. “Jin, don’t leave me. Don’t leave me!” He whispered in between cries, reaching out for his lover. When his hand finally touched Jin’s cheeks, Kame felt himself grew weaker and his hand immediately went limb to his side.

“Jin …”

Those were the last thing Kame said before everything turned eternal black.
