i just got the email that says my pacific rim dvd has shipped and then i read your fic and basically this comment is going to be me hugging you and rambling about how much i like you/r fic ok, are you ready for this
all the details!! i just?? i haven't read the novelisation yet, and i've only seen the movie once (that will so be rectified, and SOON) but i was curious, where did you get most of your info? there were so many points where i couldn't tell if you'd made them up or if they were written down somewhere, for which i applaud you~ half of the deal with scifi is just convincing readers to suspend their disbelief and accept what you tell them, and girl. GIRL. i believe you, tell me everything you want about this world and i will just accept it as fact, because it's just that good. you wove canon and fic together really well and that's all i ever want out of scifi/movie fic ;____;
it's the details that make this fic so great, i think. himchan doesn't like bullies; yongguk wants to save the children. the solid characterisation makes the crazy plot totally believable. i really liked the lines (that everyone else seems to have liked? lol) absolutely no time to fall in love and it's too late, it's too late.
the whole you're lucky to have me/i know exchange kind of hurt, like, in a good way.

i love the way they so slowly like... blend together, you know? sharing a room and himchan thinking too loud for yongguk to sleep and being connected all the time is so great a;slkfjdlks ;___; and the little detail of yongguk knowing japanese after they drift, too! (idk why but i have this total thing for himchan + japanese, idk what that is, but him wanting to go to japan afterward totally got me, too! and yongguk + ramen otp, okay)
the beginning is so gritty and intense. the focus on nothing but their relationship -- and by extension, nothing but the fighting, because that is their relationship -- really brings home the fact that pacific rim is about survival and a friggin' war against giant monsters, lol. idk i just really like it! the imagery is perfect and i love how you describe himchan being all bruised up and sweaty and tired
the no time to fall in love line -- ok i like it because you don't see much of their relationship outside of working, because there really isn't one, because they don't have the time. it makes all of the emotions you do mention so much more intense and i am really having trouble putting this into words because THIS FIC MADE ME FEEL STUFF, OK

waaah the details!! i got a lot of them from the pacrim wiki. :DD most things about the pilots' training schedule, shatterdomes, and basic jaeger/kaiju attack timeline were canon... some of the recruitment things and hana's project were my own bullshit. xD; ahh i'm so glad it worked for you!! ;U; it's been years since i wrote this genre (or any proper AU really), so kjhakwke~~~ THANK YOU MAN!!
