christmahannukwanzaa is in the air!
Froehliche Weihnachten, Holy Relic! Like the event calendar blurb states, there's a peaceful, warm christmas spirit greeting the affected players coming out of their comas-- sleigh bells ring, are you listening? In the lane, snow is glistening-- and you'd better be listening, because suddenly Mac Anu is covered in snow and the sun's decided to hide behind a curtain of stars. Cheery lights are strung up around every building, in every window, along all the bridges, and lanterns are hung and constantly lit. Wreaths are on every door, stockings over every fireplace, and the warm, spicy smell of baking drifts from every opened door. Snowfall is constant, and the NPCs managing the snow are a bit sluggish, so be careful you aren't snowed in! Mac Anu may as well be at the tippy-top of the planet, because it's two weeks of starry skies and the North star will always lead you home in fields and dungeons. There's a large Christmas tree in the town square in place of the fountain with an abundance of presents underneath it, for every girl and boy in The World. No peeking is allowed, of course!
If you try to sneak a peek, a rather ferocious and possibly rabid reindeer will charge at you and bowl you over repeatedly until you run inside for cover. Probably best you don't try to cheat!
We realize the holidays are a busy time (which is why I have yet to tag the sub-quest logs still SOB) so backlogging is a definite plus! We'll also have a very good reason for January to slow down, as well.
All field areas are snowed in and all dungeons are now completely designed out of gingerbread, complete with icing and gumdrops and other treats. All monsters are winter-themed, whether you're facing an angry snowman, a santa-suit penguin with a flamethrower, half-eaten zombie gingerbread men out for revenge, or tiny goblins dressed as elves. Oh yeah, and when you get to the boss monsters? Try not to piss off the fat man. No, no, we're kidding. They're actually more like this guy here.
There's plenty to keep you busy in town, though! There's plenty of room for snowball fights on the bridge to the Chaos Gate building, the entire alchemy district has been hosed down and frozen for ice skating, shops are full-tilt with hot chocolate, egg nog, and fresh-baked cookies of all kinds, and there's still plenty of room for player-run ideas.
Lastly, real quick, how would you guys like to organize this? Should we do a single log with threads for every event (like this sub-quest was organized), or would you like to make your own as they pop up? Let us know and we'll get it up tomorrow!
