Doctor? Just wanted to say thank you for the other day and ask if you might be available for a clock visit that doesn't involve my being cursed out of my mind.

Niko, I have a favor to ask you.

Glad to see me back to myself as well, though technically speaking ... well, not important that right?

When would you be free?

Jack might or might not have beat the Doctor down to the clock, hard to tell. He did 'teleport' down to the Underground near the clock area and walked the rest of the way because for some reason it seemed wrong to teleport into the clock room itself.

Hands in the pockets of his slacks, coat fanning behind him, Jack strolled on into the large space, a smile touching his thoughtful features almost immediately when he heard the ticking.

The Doctor arrived shortly after Jack, as he had allowed his own legs to carry him the entire distance. He preferred it that way though, all the walking and running kept him in shape.

"Ohhh, you cheated!" the Doctor accused as he got down to the Clock area and saw Jack.

Turning, Jack grinned cheekilly at the Doctor.

"Have to, if I want to get the drop on you once in awhile," he teased.

Looking back to the clock, he waited for the Doctor to draw up even with him.

"It never ceases to amaze, does it?" He said. "I don't even mind the ticking."

"I so badly want to get on the other side of that force field," the Doctor said, staring off past the energy barrier.

"Do you wonder how it knows when the end of all things is?"

"You and I both, Doctor." Jack agreed with the desire to be able to get closer to the clock, just to study it.

Turning his head slightly, he smiled a little ruefully at his old friend and gave a small shrug.

"How did the TARDIS know when and where to go in her desire to shake me off? End of the Universe you said. As much as we know about time, Doctor, isn't it more exciting to imagine that there are forces out there which know just a bit more?"

And here Jack grinned, impish and with a flash of his old, adventerous fire in his eyes.

"Something to strive for, eh?"

"It is exciting," the Doctor said. "Because I want to meet those people and learn everything that they know. I want to know how they can do all this!"

The Doctor gestured wildly to the area around them. He had seen a lot of amazing things in his life. Probably things more amazing than this. But this was still different than anything else he had seen before and that intrigued. It was the only thing that kept him from going mad from being unable to leave, the fact that he could learn what this whole City was about.

"I want to know what it's all about," he continued.
