Midhaven Champion's Tourney

J and I had a lovely day today in Midhaven--just the two of us guys daytripping to do some fighting.

We arrived in good time, and met with Sir Yusuf (Banjo) and wife Heather (??starts with a K.....) who invited us to hang with their household in their huge day shade right by the erics.  Donaldbain has a new name now which I can't remember, and he and Talia are as friendly and generous as ever (did you know, she's the Seneschale of Shittimwoode, now?  Zowie.  How times change).

In the morning, J amused himself exceedingly well, between his book, cell phone (games only--no actual cell service), sketch book and exploring the several merchants.  In the afternoon, he got himself into his own armor (with only minimal panic), INCLUDING asking someone else for help with the ties.  He fought in the tourney, and came in 3rd.   He's really tough now about losing, and is taking shots as honorably as I could wish.  The Aquaterra Jr. Heavy Marshall was terrific - running tournaments, and then a series of boffer games for kids and adults which J really liked.  He was independent, and I was able to concentrate on the tourney and pickups after, while staying connected.

The heavy tourney went really well for me.  The training is paying off--I'm feeling strong, with good endurance and a calm, happy approach.  Thanks to
ermine_knight for tips on dominating the field--they paid in spades, and I won the day undefeated.

All in all, a wonderful father-son event, and excellent training leading up to Coronation.
