Very Good Birthday

ready to go to the Ward's Automotive Interior Show tomorrow at Cobo Center.  It's a big deal...for those of us auto geeks...specifically focused on interiors...OK!  So it's not really that big a deal.  Anyway, it will be interesting for me at eight-o-fucking-clock tomorrow morning.

I spent my birthday evening making new friends.  Searched for Detroit Goth and found www.detroitgothic.net, with link to http://www.lelandcityclub.net/.  I took the hotel shuttle there but it was too early.  So I walked around to the MGM Grand hotel and casino, put $5 in a nickel slot, and walked away with $10.  Bonus!  Kept walking, and found the nightlife district of Detroit.  Had my pick between Stone Temple Pilots show ($69 ticks), and Death Cab for Cutie.  Which do you think I picked?  $20 from a scalper got me into the show 1.5 hours late.  I found a seat near some beautiful people, and sat down.  REALLY enjoyed the show.  I guess Indy Rock is really my genre.  Plus, they're from Seattle, so it felt like home.

Left the concert, and learned the Red Wings have won the Stanley Cup.  The whole city was in an uproar.  Drunk people were streaming out of bars, they were giving away free energy drinks on the street, and selling an EXTRA edition of the Detroit paper.  I bought one for $1, but later gave it away to a hot chick who wanted it more than I did.

Made my way to the Labarynth, in the basement of the City Club, in a "Central" neighborhood of Detroit.  There I found hardly anyone around, except two hot, tattoed, pierced ladies getting ready to wrestle in oil on the hard concrete floor, lined with plastic.  Well drinks were $1, and I got fairly schnockered.  Didn't help when I mentioned that it was my Birthday, and one of the glistening maidens made me a special drink on the house.  I kept thinking "I should stop...right after this sip."

About 2:00, I staggered back to the MGM Grand to find a cab, and just had a great cab ride back to my hotel (near downtown). Fun birthday!
