Smash
NBC is allowing viewers to watch the pilot episode of Smash online before the premiere on Feb 6. I was skeptical, because I thought it was going to be cheesy like Glee. Also, there hasn't been any quality shows from NBC since Friends ended in 2004. Actually, there's less cheese in this show than Glee, and more musical in it. It kinda reminds me of the Korean drama The Musical I finished watching in December. Two of the girls in the cast are struggling musical actors in New York, so it's not like Glee where they're all in glee club by default. There's more depth to these characters too.
The casting is pretty good. Debra Messing is in it. So is Katharine McPhee. They all seem to have chemistry which is hard to establish during the first episode.
It's really good so far and the teaser at the end of the pilot is intriguing. I'm hooked! NBC, you did good.
