So a woman from Real Life gave me this big ol' suitcase of supplies to take to South Africa, for the orphanage there.  I don't recall ever agreeing to this; actually, I think I gave her a vague non-answer when she first asked me.  Second time, she caught me: "So, how many suitcases are you taking to South Africa."  "Well, I want to fit all my stuff ( Read more... )

Yo! A quick bit of practical advice before you leave...tomorrow! Yikes! If you haven't figured out how to make everything fit yet, don't forget about your carry-on. All you really need in there is a small book since there's always plenty of in-flight entertainment on these looooong flights. Soooo, that means, since most airlines allow a standard back-pack on board (plus another overhead item if you like, which I don't, it too much to deal with, but that still leaves you with some more room if needed), you can fit a change of clothes (HIGHLY recommened for freshening up half-way) and all your small tolietry items in there as well. I'd recommend bringing an extra pair of pants, an extra shirt, and two or three extra pairs of underwear. Should anything happen to your luggage, you'll be able to live for a while with just these items. You also really only need shirts and such for about a week and a half. I wore a lot of my shirts twice before washing them. Might be a tad gross, but definetly works when you're working with kids -- pretty much you smell right of the bat I found! Two pairs of pants and a skirt should do you, as will just two pairs of shoes. YOU CAN DOOOOO IT!!!!!

Oh, and yeah, she shouldn't have dropped in on you. If you really can't fit stuff, send it to me and I'll send it over, I was going to send a few things soon anyway, so I'd be happy to just send another package or send my stuff with your stuff. Although, knowing you, I'm sure this is all figured out by now!
