"Nobody said it was easy. No one ever said it would be this hard. Oh take me back to the start."

Because I haven't updated in forever and I have a lot to say, I am splitting this into two separate entries. . .one "happy here is what i've done lately" and one "not so happy contemplative entry".

First, happy entry. Last week, school started again, boo. I was really upset about the summer ending at first, and definately very bitter the first week when people started coming back but now I am adjusted again and I have really enjoyed running into a lot of random ppl. Good times.

Last Monday, I went to the Jack Johnson concert and it was awesome. I was very skeptical of what kind of show he would put on, but it was definately worthwhile and very entertaining. Not to mention, it was outside. Anything outside on a late summer night makes me happy.

Tuesday was the first time in my career here at IU that I did not have to go to an Arbutus yearbook meeting. It was a strange feeling. I thought I would really miss being around the office and j-school, but so far, I have no feelings of regret or loss. I am fully enjoying not having any journalistic responsiblities. I did stop in the office last week and saw a few people which was really nice and I felt very welcomed, but at the same time, I knew that I had made the right decision in not rejoining the staff.

Wednesday was the worst day of the week. I realized my credit card was definately missing. Then, when i went to leave for work, my back tire was completely flat. Not cool, not cool at all. Thanks to my wonderful friends, i got a ride to and from work, free dinner made by miss Patty, and a free tire change from Steve's AAA. The next day I got a new tire, unfortunately, it costs me $81. I also lost my only cash that day, $10, not a clue where it went. Somehow it got lost somewhere between the house and work. I am just hoping someone deserving found it.

Thursday began the weekend. I worked until 830, and then the going out began. I met Steve, his visting friend Carter, and some of their other boys out. We went to Upstairs and 17th Floor at the Bird. I love 17th Floor but last week it wasnt very crowded and that was a little disappointing. I also had a realization this night that I am indeed ready to graduate. I wasn't really sure about it before and I can't imagine leaving Bloomington, but seeing the crowds out this weekend and how much they varied from summer, made me feel old. I think I have grown out of the bar scene in Bloomington. Yes, I still had a good time and will continue having a good time when I go out, but there are certain bars I am going to stick to and certain times i am going to visit other bars.

Friday was enjoyable and while running, I saw an old floormate. I think I have seen almost everyone from the McNutt group, many of them, i haven't seen or talked to in a couple years. Anyway, we went to Yogi's where we watched IU win their first football game of the season. Very exciting. I met Moe and his groupie at Nick's following the game. I befriended two of Moe's friends. They were two very laid back, super cool girls. Its not often I make friends with girls, so it was nice meeting some new cool people. We left Nick's and went to my favorite bar in Bloomington, the VID. It was awesome. There were a ton of people there and I ran into an old friend as well as an old acquatence from this summer. The ladder made for a very interesting evening, but it was nice re-uniting and chatting about life as well as receiving an apology. Josh and John were also at the VID, though i didnt see them much, it was still fun.

Saturday was definately the best day of the weekend. The new roomies, Andrea, Geoff, and I started the day with a visit to the Farmer's Market. Here I saw some friends from church and the oh so cheerful Hannah. Andrea bought us some peaches and green beans, yum!
Following the market, we went to lunch at Turkaz Cafe. It was a super cute restaurant, the owner was entertaining, and the food cheap and delicious.
Next, we went to the 4th Street Festival. It is just a little art festival that Bloomington puts on each labor day weekend. It was sunny, low 80's. Absolutely perfect weather for an art fair. We walked around for a couple hours and saw some really neat stuff. Seeing as I am broke, i did not purchase anything but Geoff got some awesome photos by the best photographer I have seen yet, Ray Doan. Google him and check out his website. The guy is amazing.
Somehow we lost Andrea, so Geoff and I sat and had coffee at Cafe el Crepe. It was so tasty.
It was a fun roommate bonding experience and I was reassured this was goingt to be a good semester.
After coffee, I headed to Moe's for a cookout and softball. It has been quite a while since I have actually played softball, but I had such a good time. I even slid into second to secure a double on a line drive to center field. I hit the ball really well, but defense wasn't so great. Post softball, we went to rehydrate with his keg. I mingled with the people and had a really good time. Said boy from the VID the night before was also there, since Moe is how i originally met him. It was ackward at first, but he loosened up as the night went on. I still doubt the boy will ever call, but i am really not concerned. I love new friends but i am not going to force the issue.
Finally, I ended the night out with the summer girls. Annie and i met Robin and Kelly at Kilroys to finish up some drinks. Then, we went to the Bird for Mike and Joe. They weren't as good as I thought they would be, but we had fun anyway. Annie and I also took a little detour in between bars and stopped in the VID to have a beer. I just can't get enough of that place. The people are awesome. The door man now knows me as well so i dont get carded. I'm not sure this is a good thing the door man at the bar knows me, but I only consume alcoholic beverages about 50% of the time i am there, so i think it is justifiable.

Sunday consisted of lots of homework and 530 mass. I saw sooo many people at mass and it made me really happy. It was fun to see so many familiar faces. Following mass, there was a cookout. I caught up with a lot of WV people as well as a few others. Good times, good times. I also had a great, intelligent conversation over some homemade milkshakes with Andrea and Geoff. Again, they are great kids and I"m thrilled to have them around.

And that brings us to this week, which so far, has been very unproductive. Tomorrow hopefully ill work on that.
