Claire raises an eyebrow and takes a long drink of... well, Armand probably doesn't want to think about that.

Her skirt is hitched slightly with her legs crossed and the edge of her garters are visible.

"When I first came to town,
They called me the roving jewel;
Now they've changed their tune,
They call me Katy Cruel,
Oh, diddle, lully day,
Oh, de little lioday.

Oh that I was where I would be,
Then I would be where I am not,
Here I am where I must be,
Go where I would, I can not,
Oh, diddle, lully day,
Oh, de little lioday."

Does he notice? It's hard to say.

He's singing at the flamingos, after all.

"Are you taking requests?" Claire never yells, her voice carries anyway.

"When I first came to town,
They brought me the bottles plenty;
Now they've changed their tune,
They bring me the bottles empty,
Oh, diddle, lully day,
Oh, de little lioday...

Whatcha have in mind, Ms?"

"Jessie's Girl?" she asks. Takes another drink.

"I like that song."

He raises an eyebrow but pauses, plays a few bars to get the tune, and then starts to sing.

"Jessie is a friend
Yeah I know he's been a good friend of mine
But lately something’s changed, that ain't hard to define
Jessie's got himself a girl, and I wanna make her mine

And she's watchin' him with those eyes
And she's lovin' him with that body, I just know it
And he's holdin' her in his arms, late late at night

You know I wish that I had Jessie's girl
I wish that I had Jessie's girl
Where can I find a woman like that?

I'll play along with the charade
There doesn't seem to be a reason to change
You know I feel so dirty when they start talkin' cute
I wanna tell her that I love her but the point is probably moot"

"What song do you miss?" Claire asks.

She threads her heel around the leg of her chair, slight tactile pleasure.

"Eric Clapton's Layla. No one can quite do it like he could."

Claire smiles, "That's true, although I'm sure that a few of us try to imitate in an amateur way."

"Yeah, but it's not the same."

Claire hums a few bars, thoughtfully.

"That's true."

He runs fingers down the strings, plucking out the tune.

"Any other requests, Katy Cruel?"

Claire's smirk is sly, like she knows something Armand doesn't.

"Is that who I am to you, Armand?"

"Eyes as bright as coal,
Lips as bright as cherry...

Sure."

"And who does that make you?"

"Probably a different ballad."
