Karla's on a break from playing, leaning against the edge of the stage. When she sees Daniel, she straightens up and jerks her chin in his direction a little.

"Hey. What's up?"

Karla gets a small, tense smile. "Hey. Nothing good, I'm afraid. It's Nicky again- Anna's gone after him and I'm not sure where. I came to find some help and go looking."

"--Anna went off after him alone?"

Karla is not, it seems, thrilled to hear this news.

[bass_line_blues]

"Shit."

Preston swings his feet down off the table (Gwen's not around to see) and stares at Daniel.

"Uh, so I'm clear - the plan is to find Anna before she finds him if possible, right?"

[cheng_hu]

"If possible. The problem is, Anna knows him better than anyone here." The piece of shit, he doesn't say.

"I came here to find out if anyone else knows where to start looking."

[bass_line_blues]

Preston looks almost embarrassed.

"I . . . have an idea, yeah," he says, slowly. "Where to start, at least. But if we're going there - I wouldn't advise us going alone."

There is a Plan. Russ and Claire are, in theory, in on the Plan.

Now's as good as never, he supposes.

Karla's gone quiet, eyes darting between the two of them.

At the moment, between going along and staying behind while other people go, she's not sure which appeals to her least.

"Going alone wasn't my first choice. Where? What do you know?"

How does he know, for that matter? That's least important for now, but Preston can be sure Daniel will ask later.

"Headquarters. We checked it out -

"I don't know if it's where they are now - where Nicky is, specifically. But it's where they've set up shop."

About now, the door opens, and Russ comes in.

And sees the tense group by the stage, and pauses. His nostrils flare.

". . . Am I interrupting something here?"

Karla looks at Russ for a moment, arching one eyebrow slightly.

Lightly, "Oh, you know. Mayhem and probable doom, the usual."

[cheng_hu]

"Russ."

Hm. Russ could be helpful. He's a fighter, he's a werewolf, he dislikes vampires.

"Up for a jaunt to the West side?"

[bass_line_blues]

What he is going to say, Preston knows, will not make him very popular, but:

"If Russ is coming," he says, quietly, "then Claire should too."

"Is it one of those events where you'll all stand around awkwardly and wonder which of you needs to do the honest thing and go fetch her?" Claire asks.

She looks down at herself, "Oh wait. Here I am."

Russ rolls his eyes. "So glad you could join us."

Then, eying the group again -- "So what's the mayhem on the West side you want both of us for?"

Karla glances Claire's way. "I was gonna suggest Rock, Paper, Scissors, actually."

Then, to both her and Russ, "Anna went after Nicky, alone. Daniel's going after her, preferably not alone."
