Now, see, the good thing about spring is that the roads are starting to clear. Which means that motorbikes are useable. Which means that Armand has been having way too much fun going too fast around corners because it's the closest he can get to running as a wolf

Preston's sitting at a table, with a cup of ambiguous Wasteland alcohol in front of him.

He looks . . . a little stunned, to be honest.

(Did he seriously just talk Russ and Claire into thinking about a criminal justice system? Like, seriously, did that just actually happen?)

Okay, that's...weird.

"Yo, Preston."

[bass_line_blues]

Preston blinks, startled, and then looks up with a grin.

"- Armand! Hey."

[localhandywolf]

"You're staring into space." He points out. Helpfully.

Another blink - and then another grin. Brighter than before.

The brightest Preston's had in a while, actually.

"Yeah, well, man - it's a space filled with exciting future possibilities, you know?"

[localhandywolf]

"Liiiike?" And he helps himself to a chair.

[bass_line_blues]

"Like a justice system that makes murder fucking illegal, that's what," Preston says, and takes a gulp of Ambiguous Alcohol.

His voice is carefully detached, as if he almost doesn't believe it himself.

"Like laws. Like maybe another step towards actual civilization - like that."

Armand pauses and tilts his head. It's not a very human gesture, really.

"How'd you manage that?"

[bass_line_blues]

"Haven't managed it yet, man."

He shakes his head. "But I've got - it's a start. I think Russ is getting that it might be in everyone's best interest; Claire's more dubious, but she's considering it. I think she'll come around if I keep pushing. And the shelter folk'll be easy to convince."

A sudden laugh. "I'll say this for post-apocalypse politics, lobbying's a hell of a lot easier and cheaper when you can just round the two of 'em up and babble at them."

And, you know, stop them from killing each other.

"Good luck with that."

And he does mean it. A little.

Anything to get Russ thinking towards not tearing people apart with his fangs is a step in the right direction, as far as Armand is concerned.

"Thanks," Preston says, with a smile, and it's sincere.

"Probably need all the luck I can get."

[localhandywolf]

Armand thinks about that.

"....yeah. You really do."

[bass_line_blues]

A snort.

"Your vote of confidence is inspiring. So how you been, man?"

[localhandywolf]

Something darkenes in his eyes, and then he almost forcibly shrugs it away.

"Been better. Leg's getting better, but...you really didn't want to be in the pack when the shit first hit the fan, you know?"

[bass_line_blues]

"- yeah," Preston says, after a beat.

"Yeah, I can see that."

There's a few reasons Preston avoids the Pack life.

"Been a lot of rumors going around."

Armand...looks unhappy. Worried and angry, but mostly just...worried.

"I can imagine. Haven't been out much."
