The door swings open, and Jason tips his head inside before coming all the way through the door.

Awww, smiling means people are nice.

Les nods at him and smiles back. "Hi."

Yes, that's exactly what it means.

"In a way. I haven't been to this place before. Quite a crowd. It's nice to see people enjoying themselves in these times."

Still smiling. "Jason. I'm Jason. It's a pleasure to meet you, Les."

He sticks out his hand. "Pleased to meet you, um, too."

There is a pause before Jason shakes. "You'd be surprised how few people do that these days. Always worrying about disease." He rolls his eyes. "As if we are all clean and pure, these days."

He shakes his head with a deep sigh. "I miss conditioning my hair every day."

He shrugs. "People are nervous."

Les looks unfazed by the statement about . . . conditioner.

"That's a sad thing," he says. And means it.

"Are you part of the shelter, Les? I don't remember seeing you there."
