Preston's onstage, tuning his bass.

He has no real plans to play unless a guitarist or drum player shows up. But. Tuning the bass!

Or maybe she was just here the whole time, and was super sneaky.

"Hey."

"Hey, Shay."

Preston flashes her a grin.

"Here to jam, or just to drink?"

"Can I do both?"

Because that'd be nice.

"I dunno," Preston says, solemnly, "will the drinking have an impact on the jamming?"

"Well, it would depend what I was drinking, wouldn't it? And how much, and when, and if I did headstands."

Because headstands + drunkenness =/= good jamming.

Thoughtfully: "I dunno, man. Headstand into your drums might make for a kick-ass finale if you were doing heavy metal."

"Yeah, but I could kill myself." This thought makes her sad. A world without Shay is not a world worth living in!

This thought makes Preston sad too! A band is not much without a drummer.

"Football helmet?"

Then band without drummer.

"It'd get sweaty. And look weird. You want someone doing headstands, I volunteer you."

"I think more people'd come to see you do handstands than me," Preston protests.

"'sides, it's a little more impressive handstanding into a drumset than into a bass, you know?"

"Yeah, but they'd just be hoping my shirt rides up and they get another kind of show."

And Shay's not into that kind of thing.

Preston waves back, looking up from his bass.

"'sup, Gwen?"

She shrugs.

"Not much."

... Okay, so maybe this is going to take some leading up to.

"Where're the bandmates?"

Preston shrugs.

"Doing whatever they do."

Is he his bandmates' keeper?

"Think I saw Shay earlier, so she might come up in a bit. If she does we'll probably play."
