A new musical acquaintance
I just ran across a rather new Finnish glam rock (yes, glam rock!) band, Jann Wilde & Rose Avenue. The vocalist's style of clothing is hysterical (ie perfect for my liking ;P ), I really liked their sound, and the vocalist really seemed to have fun on the stage, all flirty, coquettish, and dandy. And best of all, it's a Finnish band XD I think I have to buy their album once it comes out in a few days. Based on the bit I saw of their performance I have rather high expectations ;P It would also seem to be a band whose gig I might really enjoy seeing, the visual element being - needles to say for a glam rock band - quite strong :)
Well, this did come as a surprise on some level, but somehow I've been expecting a sort of renaissance of glam rock for quite a while now, glam combined with some punkish and progressive elements - there was Army of Lovers with similar visual style, Visual kei is very much a descendant of glam, and the movie Velvet Goldmine did become a (somewhat controversial) hit when it first came out. So it's about time XD
