Chapter 6 “DON’T TAKE MAMA! PLEASE! PLEASE! I BEG YOU, DOCTOR!”
Crying hardly, he caught the pshyciatrist’s legs strongly with his trembling hands. Whining endlessly, trying hard to do everything for making his mother to stay still in this house. His eyes were burning when he saw some nurses, who were holding Ryosuke, injected his mother’s pale skin heartlessly and it slowly made his mother lost consciousness. Kazu had ever seen the scenery before, those were done only for making Ryosuke’s body calm.
He couldn’t see this, he didn’t want this anymore. He felt that mental hospital wasn’t a good way, his mother would be always alone and the nurses of the hospital would never give a better treatment, not like he and his father or Kei and Kouta always did. The boy could feel that his mother would be more suffer at there, he was sure of it.
He couldn’t see his mother for being tied up, screaming out loud, having delusions... what would happen if his mother felt all of it by only himself? There would be only the nurses, and the pshyciatrist who would try to make Ryosuke calm by an injection or using a thick rope to tie him up just like Kouta ji-san always did. But Kazu knew, at least Kouta ji-san did that because he really worried and loved Ryosuke. A heart was still working, and the nurses or the pshyciatrist didn’t have that in treatening Ryosuke. Enough for the numerous injection and the scars because of the rope, Kazu couldn’t take it anymore.
“Please..”
“Kazu-chan, let go.” Kei, who was grabbing Kazu’s shoulders, said while putting some force to pull the boy back, “Kazu-chan..”
The boy suddenly felt dissapointed on his beloved auntie. He frantically threw Kei’s hands and tightened his grip on the pshyciatrist’s legs.
“Don’t bring Mama... please!”
The pshyciatrist looked down, and then he squatted down and managed to smile warmly to the boy who was still crying hard, “You don’t understand, Kazu-chan. Just please believe us, this is the best way for your mother.”
“No, doctor. You’re the one who never understand...” Kazu shook his head, trying hard not to choke out due to the tears, “... Mama needs me, Mama needs his family around him!”
“He’s not your Mama for this time. By letting go of him to go with us, we’ll promise to bring your Mama back..”
“He’s still Mama!” Kazu shouted out, his body was terribly shaking, “Please, doctor, don’t...”
“Kazu-chan, don’t you see what’s happening to your Papa?”
The boy took a breathe, wiping his tears away and managed to make his voice back, “Mama is dangerous for us. I know doctor. I’m not stupid, I’ve ears and brain. I understand what is happening.”
“Then?”
“But bring him to the mental hospital will only make his condition get worse! I’m his child, doctor. I can feel it, Mama really needs his family. So, please..”
The doctor was stunned by the words which escaped from the boy’s lips.
“Sure, we know it’s possible for somebody will get hurt pshycally, just like Papa. But we are all together. Kei auntie and Kouta ji-san made their moves fast once Papa got hurt, and I’m sure if the same thing happens again to us, to Kei auntie, or Kouta ji-san... we can play our own roles and help each others. Kazu’s not alone.”
Kouta softly grabbed Kei’s hands and made the hands released from the little boy’s shoulders. Nonverbally trying to make Kei understand what Kazu feel. The pretty guy sniffed, staring at his spouse with his teary eyes. It seemed like he felt really heavy and felt pity with this life condition that was happening to his cousin’s family.
“Let Mama stay..” Kazu whispered helplessly, “Please..”
However, the boy was still persistent to do the thing he really thought it was much better.
“We can’t.” The pshyciatrist said weakly, making Kazu’s eyes widened, “The incident that was happening to your Papa is-“
“Didn’t you hear me before, doctor?! We can play our own roles! We can through this all together! Don’t take Mama to the loneliness, he has suffered enough!”
The boy was unpredictably angry, not crying like he did before.
“Let go of him, doctor!” Kazu raised his hands and hit the guy in front of him on his shoulder with his small fists, “Let go!”
“Kazu.” Kouta boldly pulled the boy’s shoulders, it was rather hard since the boy didn’t wanna stop hitting, “Don’t do something like that to the doctor. Use your manner.” And he found himself making the boy’s eyes got teary again. “And.. it’s not like we don’t need you, doctor. But please, would you like to do the treatment in this house? I’ll be responsible for everything that might happened.”
The boy suddenly stopped struggling, his teary eyes stared at Kouta and the pshyciatrist intensely.
“If that’s it... fine, but call me as soon as possible if there’s something wrong.”
His body suddenly fell down over the floor with the cries that still accompanied him. Kei slowly squatted down and embraced the little boy tightly, softly rubbing his back. “Thank you.” It was all the boy said between his sob.
***
A weak sound of the tickling clock was heard louder than usual, slightly breaking the dead silence in the hospital corridor. Kei was sitting beside his spouse, palming Kouta’s hand and held it tightly. His eyes were staring dismally at the little boy who was sitting in the seat which was rather far from them, it seemed like the little boy needed his time for himself. The boy’s face was going pale under the moon light, his little body was almost seen unmoving and Kei felt that the boy was already numb.
Kazu didn’t cry again, or... he was tired of crying already.
“Kouta, what should we do..” Kei whispered helplessly, landing his head on the crook of his Kouta’s neck, “My mind is blank... this is just too much.”
“I don’t know either.” Kouta kissed his spouse’s hair, his breathe rhytim that could be heard by Kei was clearly in desperate.
“Is it okay to keep Ryosuke with us?” Kei asked worriedly, “I’m worried about Kazu’s safety. I don’t want him to end up like Yuto.”
“I’ll be beside him.” Kouta answered, boldly, “I’ll protect him, and you. Did you forget that I’m the one who will be responsible? I just wanna believe in that boy.”
Kei didn’t answer, just nodding his head soundlessly.
“I’m more afraid of Yuto’s condition right now.”
Kei raised his head, staring at his husband which meant he was waiting for the next words.
“He had two accidents before, I’m afraid he’s having a brain trauma. And what happened tomorrow... it would make his condition get worse. You know brain injuries is a leading cause of death in car accident-“
“Kouta..” Kei shook his head, “Don’t say something weird.”
“That’s what the doctor said to me.”
And there was nothing Kei could answer.
“What will happen to the child... I hope life can stop playing with them.”
Kei snuggled closer to his husband, a small tear was falling down silently.

.
The truth was, Kazu had heard it all.
He already knew what was happening to his father, even before his Kei auntie knew from Kouta. His heart was bleeding inside, yet his eyes couldn’t make even for a single tear anymore. Sitting in the hospital corridor with a silence, with a numbness, he could feel his body was all frozen. He only sat, blank, just like a solid mannequin without any heart.
Even though he knew that his mother who made his father became like this, but he still didn’t angry. He was still thinking his mother wasn’t dangerous. No, not even once. And he didn’t know why.
And honestly, he felt weird for himself.
The first movement that he did was turning his head when the doctor was already came out from the room. Both of them made their eyes contact in a glance before Kazu rushed up to the room whereas the familiar figure that Kazu had known for years was laying there, helplessly and hopelessly with the complicated wires and tubes that connecting to machine-the thing that he hadn’t ever seen. But the boy knew it was scary, the scenery was just scary and it was enough for suffocating the boy mentally.
“Hey.. Papa..” Kazu said weakly, grabbing the cold hands of his father and interwined his small fingers with the long fingers in his grip, “.. don’t ever lie to me. You’re not fine. You look like a mummy with that ban-aid on your head.”
Silence.
And the boy laughed a little.
“Just kidding, Papa. You still look handsome.” He carressed his father’s pale cheek dearly, “Wake up, Papa. We’ve promised to make the old Mama back again, right? Don’t make me to fulfill the promise by myself.”
Kei and Kouta just stayed still on their positions, they didn’t know the thing they should do for this time.
“But without or with you... Kazu will get Mama back. Kazu will make Mama put Kazu on his lap again, telling so many stories with his melodious voice and his bright smile. Ne, Papa, Mama’s smile is the best in the world, do you agree?”
No answer, obviously.
“And Mama will talk again about how much he loved you. You should know how sparkling his eyes whenever he said anything about you, Papa. How sad you never saw it, you even never chatted together with us. But I still love you so much because... you love me, obvious isn’t it?”
His voice began to tremble.
“Wake up. You and Mama should grant my wish, Papa. I want a normal family...” Kazu tightened his grip, “Don’t just lie there and let Mama with his current condition, wake up, Papa! Make me a normal family!”
A little shake on his father’s arm.
“Don’t be so cruel to leave our family problem to me, I’m only still a six years old boy! I’m weak and I can’t do this continously if you don’t help me. Wake up and help me, Papa!”
Kei was grasping Kouta’s hand when he saw Kazu was suddenly crying hardly on his father’s arm. Letting out all the sorrow by crying wasn’t wrong, it was only painful.

The little head was moving lightly, his eyes were blinking and he hissed when he felt the light in this place was too bright. Two times of blink, he gasped when he realized it wasn’t a place when he drifted in his deep slumber hours ago. It wasn’t a hospital room.
The other realization was... his head was resting on someone’s lap.
He quickly took his body off and stepped backward, but suddenly there was a soft hand which softly grasped his arm.
His round eyes widened to see whose hands were these, “Ma...”
“I’m not your mother, Kazu-chan.”
The voice owner was slowly pulling the shock boy back to his lap, meanwhile Kazu was still in his confusion... a dream?
“You’re?” Kazu tilted his head, one name already in his toungue, “Yamada Kyosuke?” and he split it out.
A smile was enough to be an answer.
“Hold me.” The boy whispered, snuggling to the warm he never felt, “You look like Mama, and you feel like Mama. Please, hug me. I miss him.”
It was very warm, and the silence was very comforting.
“Why am I here?” Kazu asked softly.
“Because I want to.”
Kazu’s brows furrowed, “Don’t say you were killing me smoothly and boom!.. Here I am.”
A soft laughter, and the hand was shifting his bang, “No. I found you lost already. You’re in your climax. You’ve tired.” Hearing that, the boy clung on him desperately. “Ma.. do you know about our story?”
“I know about your story, with Mama, and Papa.” Kazu mumbled, while closing his eyes. “It’s obvious since Kei auntie and Mama always talk about it whenever Kazu’s not in home. Well, but there’s some times when Kazu can hear it all.”
“So you’ve known.”
“Yes. It was confusing.” Kazu pulled himself off from the warm shoulder, staring at the his mother’s face look alike. “Do you hate Mama?”
“Me? Of course no. That should be my question for your mother.”
“Well, he hates you, indeed.”
“I know.”
“Don’t worry, he loves you too. He often said that.”
A faint smile.
“Mama didn’t kill you, right?”
A silence.
“Why? Did Mama really kill you?”
“I can’t say no or yes. I don’t know either. Your mother was drunk and he was mad at me... he tried to kill both of us. But I knew he was out of control.”
“So.. he killed you.”
“I said it was out of control, it was an accident.”
“But still, you died. You saved him, right? You protected him, covering Mama’s body with yours so the injuries were all hit you. Mama always said that and it made him more guilty. I wonder you were trying to give your life to Mama... but the situation didn’t turn out well because Mama trapped himself in his lies.”
“You know that much..”
“I had known about it for a year, and I always thought about it.”
“Your mother did it all because of me. It was still my fault.”
“No. You had done your own role well. You protected my mother, you loved him so much, I could feel it. It was just Obaa-chan’s fault, right? However, you still always be Mama’s side whenever he felt down. Not in case about Papa though.”
“That person..” a heavy sigh, “.. is smart enough to hide his feeling. I really don’t know he fell for your father.”
“Mama’s good in lying.” Kazu giggled. “Are you jealous?”
Silence, again.
And suddenly the boy laughed, “Cute! You’re pouting. So you were jealous. No wonder, Mama is really the third person afterall.”
“I’m not really jealous, Kazu. I’m just hoping your father can move on.”
“He did. Even before Mama was suffering this illness.”
“Really?”
“Un. He has moved on for a long time.”
“How do you know?”
“I can feel it! Maybe Papa never talk or confess, but.. doki doki, doki doki.. when their eyes met, and they talk each others with their hidden feelings. It was the sweetest scene ever!”
“Are you really a six years old boy? You know that much-“
“Uhm, well, Kouta ji-san always told me about that thing.. ngg.. so...”
A small smile appeared, and the hands were ruffling the boy’s hair softly, “So that’s it. I’m so glad.”
“But... Kyosuke-san.” Kazu’s voice was getting down all the sudden. “Will Mama and Papa have a chance to restart again?”
Kazu closed his eyes as he felt a soft lips landed on his forehead, “It depends on you. You can through it all, just remember, I’ll be beside you. One thing before I’ll send you back home, just tell my brother that I love him.”
Thus, a last kiss on his forehead suddenly brought him back to his deep slumber.

He jerked around when his eyes could be opened again in the morning, only to find the same situation just like yesterday.
“It was a dream..”
he muttered, but a small smile soon plastered on his face. At least, he had spoken what was on his mind for all this time. Yes, the truth was spoken, he already knew about everything. He was just neutral, he always thought that thinking about the past wasn’t a good thing. He should save his family, that was all he wanted, for now.
