Day 3 of my countdown. My 13th favorite 宇多田ヒカル song: Sorry for the lateness. Busy day!

13. SAKURAドロップス (Sakura Drops)

Official music video

Another first track! This one is off her third overall album, Deep River. Experimental (not quite sure what to call it) pop Hikki!

This was one of the first Hikki songs I ever listened to. But I in fact, hated it at first listen! What the hell was wrong with me!

Seriously though, this is one of her best songs ever. The instrumental is just beautiful and her vocals are just wonderful. The music video is brilliant art. I don't think magical quite describes this song. It's perfect. And close to my heart since I was able to hear this live. ♥♥♥

English translation lyrics: (courtesy of kiwi-musume.com)

I’ve fallen in love and called it quits
And now I swear: this will be my final heartbreak
Even the cherry blossoms, swaying in the breeze
Eventually become flowers

A summer rain has begun to fall
Falling alongside my tears with a rushing sound
A repeat of an autumn drama
Playing in dual vision with my memories

Why is the same old pantomime
Playing out again and again?
And yet we still keep fighting
That’s the mystery of life

I’ve fallen in love and given it everything
And I pray: that this will be my final heartbreak
Even the cherry blossoms, swaying in the winds of time
Eventually become flowers

My shoes have worn out
As the seasons come and go again and again

Summon up a little more strength
And leave the past behind somewhere
There’s bound to be scenery you’ve never seen for
Not so far from here

I want to overcome the constant pain in my heart
And get closer to you
I go around in circles and ending up back where I started
Groping for the blue sky the whole time

I’ve fallen in love and called it quits
And now I swear: today will be my first good day
I’ll reach out to the cherry blossoms blowing in the breeze
Reaching out for you

I love you, I love you, I can’t help it
I don’t care about the little details
