(I think I reached the upload limit for today, I'll finished tomorrow)
In 2005 I participated in the World Youth Day (WYD) in Koln, Germany (GMG or Giornatà Mondiale della Gioventù for the Italians readers).
It was a great experience and I think that determined an important part of who I am now! ♥
I went with the Youth Group of my diocese, the diocese of Milano. We were all nicely organized and we were hosted by some absolutely fantastic families.
Families that made us skip the sleeping arrangements in sports halls and schools about which we heard pretty nasty things. I still remember my family who hosted me and my friend S.: two big, taller and blonde parents with a pretty, blonde and nice daughter, who regularly came in Italy for vacation every year and even learned a bit of Italian. They were three very sweethearts who treat us like friends; I still remember them, their kindness and they shiny examples of hospitality.
I would have a lot to write about it, but speaking about flags I realized the universality of Christianity. The variety and amount of flags surely explain the power that I felt in such occasion, the sturdy certainty that I felt toward my faith, toward Christianity and toward the universality of it, the exact feeling of how it was beyond the humankind because donate from above. It's something that make my eyes go wet every time I think about it, something that I don't even be able to understand if I didn't felt it.
The next WYD was in Australia, way beyond of my possibilities of money and time, so I didn't go.
This year it's going to be in Madrid, nice and comfortable Europe; I'm not organized for it, it's totally my fault and I deeply regret it. ;_; ;_; ;_;
