What I learn in class

Oct 08, 2010 01:35

- I am as tall as Louis XIV King of France (156 cm)
- The night on the 30th of November the vampires go out to hunt and we will make a Romanian ritual in class.
- Shakespeare's father was fined many times for doing ilegal stuff (I actually knew, but we could see how the documents look like!)
- The English word "priest" for "sacerdote" is not as random as we think. In the Middle Ages a priest was called a "preste".
-  South Americans were told by the Spanish invaders that Mother Earth was Mother Mary and the God of War, Santiago (Saint James) WTF?

And many more things that you won't find amusing... I think.

Anyway, I wanted to tell you a bit about my Master's Degree now, so you won't be confused if I say something random about my classes some day.
The title is Literature Studies, and I study... mostly literature xD of course.
I have no exams, but I have to read A LOT and write LOTS of papers, essays and stuff.
I've started the first semester, and I will have 6 different subjects until February, when I will start my second semester.
These subjects are:
-Comparative literature
-Literature and art
-The adventure of travelling through travel literature
-Gothic Fiction
-Medieval myths in modern literature
-Shakespeare and the creation of modern theatre

So what do you think? I like them a lot, of course! I chose them, after all.
If anyone is interested in any of them and maybe want a list of books or whatever, feel free to let me know!

And by the way, you may have noticed already, but a Peruvian-Spanish author has won the Nobel this year: Mario Vargas Llosa.

And about my new bedroom... it's still unfinished (only furniture, I can live there, no worries), but I wanted to share some pics of the computer room, where I spend most of my time at home nowadays. It's a bit messy because we unpacked everything very fast, and I can't find the time to reorganize it...
Anyway:

university, photos, my bedroom, my life
