------
This is war.
It has been 3 days since Minori came to Horikoshi Gakuen. Within these three days, she was the most-talked-about girl in the whole campus. Who wouldn’t talk about the object of rivalry of the two popular idols from Johnny’s? She’s got to be something, as everyone says.
Sighing as she took her breakfast, just toast and milk, she heard her aunt’s voice from the living room. Yes, she was living with her aunt, the person who supported her dreams of studying in Horikoshi Gakuen.
“Minori-chan, your suitors are here!”
Minori’s face went beet red. “T-they’re not my suitors, auntie! J-just…friends!” She then munched on her toast. “P-please let them in…I’ll just finish my breakfast..”
Her auntie just nodded and opened the door, revealing-of course-Chinen and Yamada.
“Ohayou gozaimasu, Takahashi-san.” Both of them chorused and bowed.
“O~ha~you~” she sing-sang in a soft-voice. Turning to the direction of the kitchen, she half-shouted. “Minori-chan~! Don’t take so long in eating!” and she faintly heard Minori shouting “Hai!”.
She again turned to the idols. “Jaa, wait here. I’m going upstairs to take care of something. Good luck with her, ne?” she winked and giggled as she went upstairs.
Both boys smiled. Minori’s aunt was so kind to them! She never got mad, and she’s always smiling.
Before they even knew it, Minori was standing in front of them, smiling. Yamada and Chinen both thought that she was too cute, with or without a smile.
“Jaa, ikou?” she turned to Yamada, then to Chinen. Both nodded and when they felt her warmth through their linked hands, they couldn’t ask for more. It felt like their little war was stopped as they smiled and mouthed a ‘Yoshaaa!’ to each other.
They walked to school that way, and the idols knew for themselves that today, they got a little taste of heaven.

It was lunch time and Yamada was busy re-writing his notes for Chemistry as Chinen popped out from nowhere, startling him. Chinen just skipped happily to his seat, then looking at the girl sitting in between him and Yamada, who was trying to study on her own, her brows furrowing cutely as she was concentrating on a problem about combustion. Curious about his co-member, he fished out his phone and message Chinen.
To: Yuri
Subject: Why?
You seem a bit happy, why is that?
-Ryosuke
Feeling his phone vibrating inside his pocket, Chinen pulled it out, his smile getting wider as he punched in some buttons while replying to the other idol.
To: Ryosuke
Subject: She likes me!
I received a letter from Minori-chan! Ehe~
-Yuri
“N-nani?!” Yamada exclaimed, startling both Minori and Chinen. Minori was shocked, she has never heard the older idol shout like that. What’s wrong?
“Y-yamada-kun…? W-what’s wr-“
“What’s wrong?! You want to know what’s wrong?!” JUMP’s front man faced the scared girl, slamming his fists on the table. “It’s you! Ask yourself and your feelings for Yuri! I’m out of here.”
“Y-yamada-kun..ch-cho-“
She was too late. Yamada already fled the room, leaving her with Chinen. Alone. She felt tears on her eyes, wanting to descend on her fluff cheeks.
The truth is, ever since she was in grade school, she has always liked Yamada. She is a fan of Hey! Say! JUMP, and one of her dreams is to meet him face-to-face, even just for one concert. When she found out she got in Horikoshi as a scholar, she was too happy. It meant that she might see her ichiban weekly. But then, another miracle happened. She became classmates with him! How lucky could she be? Meeting him on a daily basis, it was the greatest thing she could wish for. And for him to fetch her every day, wasn’t that too much? Yet she let it, and everything felt like a fairytale. Before, she was just watching him perform on their flatscreen TV, and now, everything she dreamed of was happening, everything!
But then, of course, some fairytales were meant to end on a sad note. And she thinks that hers went ended on sad terms too. He was now angry at her for some reasons she couldn’t fathom. Everything she dreamed of, shattered like glass.
She turned to the little acrobat, her tears escaping her glass-like eyes. Chinen gulped, feeling something was wrong. So wrong. He rushed to her side, calming her down but instead of calming down, her sobs went louder.
“Calm down now…Everything’s alright…I’m already here…” he muttered, caressing her hair. He felt her move her lips, saying something.
“I…w-want…n-no,I…I… n-need…Y-yamada-kun…” she sniffled on the acrobat’s shoulder, and Chinen swore his heart tore into two. What was the letter all about, then? Was she toying with his feelings?
“T-then…what do you mean…what’s the letter all about…?” he whispered, just enough to let her hear.
“I…” she broke the hug, wiping her tears. “…I never sent you any letter, Chinen-kun. In fact, I was about to confess to Yamada-kun…” she showed him an envelope. “But I guess…” she let out a broken laugh. “…I’m too late, deshou?”
Chinen was baffled. Who would send him a letter, if not Minori?
“T-then who…?”
“I-it’s me, baka!” both were shocked to see Yoshida Sachii, their class representative, standing on the doorway, crying. Once she finished saying what she has to say, she ran away.
Looking at the doorway, then to Minori, Chinen was shocked at the revelation. Yoshida Sachii, liking him? Just what the heck is happening? He became a jerk to his new crush, bestfriend, and her childhood crush? He just had to ruin everyone’s happiness.
Yes, Chinen Yuri’s classmate since childhood was Yoshida Sachii. Both of them grew up in Hamamatsu in Shizuoka, went to the same schools. They drifted apart when Chinen became a part of Johnny’s, yet his feelings of love for her never wavered. He hoped she likes him too, even just because he was an idol from Johnny’s.
He felt his prayers were answered. But he screwed up. What should he do?
He didn’t knew if he slowly drifted to his subconscious or he just blacked out for a few moments, but when he felt Minori’s hands on his shoulders, he felt like he was brought back to reality and to his own self.
“I can see that you like Sachii-san too, so please go after her! Onegai!” she pleaded, her tears threatening to fall from her eyes again.
“B-but Yamada…you…”
She smiled, and he knew it was fake. “Don’t worry, Chinen-kun. I’m okay. I guess…I’ll move on, soon.”
Chinen stood up, smiled at her. “No need for moving on. I’ll help you with him, as an apology for screwing everything up.” Before he left, he patted her head, thanking her again.
“Ganbatte, Chinen-kun…”
---------------------------
“Sachii, wait!”
Chinen sighed as once again, his shout was not heard by the girl he was chasing. They were in the school quadrangle, and he did not care if everyone started talking about him. All he cared about now was Sachii, nothing more, nothing less.
Finally! Chinen heaved a sigh of relief as he grasped the girl’s arm. Sachii was struggling to let go, still letting out broken sobs.
“L-let me go, C-chinen-san!”
He pulled her to him, hugging her close. “No. I’m not letting you go. Never again.”
“B-but M-Minori-san…”
Without saying anything at all, he captured her lips. She gasped, struggling to push the idol away. Good thing they were near an abandoned building, so no one could see them. An idea suddenly flew in her mind and she bit his lower lip, careful not to wound him, and became successful when Chinen pulled away.
She slapped him. “W-what was that for?! M-Minori-san-“
“Stop talking about Minori-chan! She’s not the main character here!” Chinen shouted, startling Sachii.
“W-what? What are you talking about?” Sachii turned away, afraid to hear the next lines coming from Hey! Say! JUMP’s little acrobat.
“What I meant was,” Chinen calmed himself a bit, from both tiredness and nervousness he was feeling. “…I was wrong to like Minori-chan…First, of course, she likes Ryosuke and…” he hugged their class representative from behind. “…and I realized that it has always been you. It’s always you that I loved, Sachii. Even from grade school, I liked you. Up until now, my feelings never changed.”
“M-me…? Y-you mean…” Chinen could only chuckle at the latter’s flustered face while Sachii averted her eyes.
“Yes, you. I love you, Sachii.” He, once again, sealed their lips in a simple, yet romantic kiss.
