7. Kelly Link, White Cat, Black Dog -- this is a collection of fairy tales set in the modern world, each one riffing on a specific tale. I've liked Kelly Link's other short fiction and was curious to see how this approach

The Link book sounds pretty good.
I love to read short stories sometimes and esp. variations of fairy tales.

I definitely recommend the Kelly Link book, then! I feel like she is one of the masters of the fantasy short story, and these were definitely neat takes on fairy tales!
