Yeah, I really liked the "fight" in the high school and everybody helping, even Kamala's brother!
Kamala's costume is cool, isn't it? I really loved that her mum got her one!

Yes, I also loved that the costume came from the mom! Someone I follow on YouTube called it, because the Hulk costume Kamala rejected for Avengercon kind of foreshadowed it, but that was really lovely! And the way the swoosh thing was inspired by the borken necklace which had her name spelled in Arabic -- that was also a nice touch.

I also really enjoyed Kamala's brother showing up at the school -- totally did not expect that, but it felt really fitting to have her family also there, as represented by him -- and was especially amused by his conversation with "Cousin Kamran" :P

I've been meaning to check out Tchaikovsky for several years now

Children of Time followed by Children of Ruin are great Tchaikovsky books. Give them a try is what I say.

I'm definitely intrigued by the idea of spider aliens!

Yes and it's not a horror book, it's science fiction. These aren't scary spiders :)

Oh, I love spiders, actually -- they are some of my favorite critters -- so them being spiders is definitely a feature rather than a (heh) bug :D
