I am glad you enjoyed the Deniska book, I really liked learning more about the author as well and it was so much fun to reread familiar stories.

It was really fun to revisit the stories, especially the ones I hadn't read in years. I remember you mentioning that you also didn't recognize the car accident one. Did the "Sinij kinzhal" one seem familiar? I was so shocked by Deniska in it, I feel like I must've never encountered it before...

You know this one I've been wracking my brains for, and I don't have one. Like, I imagine Gregor must have had a first kiss before Cavilo/that timeframe, because otherwise would be too depressing, but I'm not sure who on Barrayar he would be willing to be that vulnerable with / who he would feel would not find it a duty-driven transaction they couldn't refuse. In fic, my answer to that is Miles (I ship them when they were young, though I don't see that as a sustainable relationship) but I think that requires some deviation from canon fairly early on, so it's not my headcanon for, you know, canonSex headcanon ( ... )

He probably has favorite photographs involving his kids and Laisa, but if we look at Gregor as he is c. A Civil Campaign, then I think it's a past-facing one of, like, little Gregor and toddler!Miles and Elena playing in the snow with Cordelia, Aral, Drou, and Bothari, and almost everybody is laughing really hard (and even Bothari is sort of smiling).
Relationship with/thoughts on _Miles_ headcanon
I think as both a kid and a young man, Gregor both felt jealous of Miles and really guilty about feeling that way, because he knew how hard Miles had it, with his health issues and the way he was perceived on Barrayar, and he knew how much time Aral and Cordelia were spending on him instead of Miles (and on the Regency, which was basically also on him) but he still couldn't help but feel jealous that Miles had two parents with him and a slightly terrifying grandfather, and Miles could escape to Beta and be an anonymous Betan there. I think it's Vor Game that finally cures him of these conflicted feelings.
