18. Jim Butcher, Peace Talks -- Well, that was certainly... not really a book. :/ I mean, I went in knowing, from Butcher's Comic Con @ Home panel, that it was the first half of a complete story and that it ended on a cliffhanger, and from

I got Data as my top pick, which is slightly weird since I have emotions, but the rest were much more typical characters and predictable ones (I got Amy from BBT second.)

Dresden Files book have been hinting that stars aligned when Harry was born which is why he was able to defeat an Outsider at a young age when Justin summoned one to kill Harry. I didn't think it was new info other that 666 years part. So I wasn't surprised nor does Chosen One trope bothers me, especially it is not like Harry had it easy. But it is also pretty stupid to have only one person born every 666 years with this ability. Why don't Outsiders just coordinate and attack in the middle of that cycle. (Taking away 666 from present age puts us around the Black Death - fun times). Whatever, I don't read these books for big plots - I like the characters. I do hope that the next book answers all the Peace Talks questions or at least a lot of them (It just didn't bother me that this was half a book, since I know the second part is pretty soon and I was just happy to see my characters again).

I do wonder how knowing that the whole thing is heading toward an Apocalyptic ending would influence the books now. Should I stop expecting for everyone to basically ignore magic?

Hee! :) Odd about Data... what was your percentage match with him (or Amy), do you recall?

I didn't think it was new info other that 666 years part

And the name, I think? But, yeah, his specialness with respect to Outsiders was already hinted at.

Taking away 666 from present age puts us around the Black Death,

Now that's interesting!

Should I stop expecting for everyone to basically ignore magic?

Nothing had made me consider that previously, but this book made me think about whether magic was going to come out into the open as a result of the apocalyptic thing, or even just the buildup to it.
