- Do you love/hate/don’t feel strongly about this character? He is one of my favorites in this fandom, especially in the Phedre books (whether he or Joscelin is my favorite at any given time in the Phedre trilogy tends to depend on how mopey and/or OOC Joscelin is being at the moment)
- What’s your favorite trait of this character? SNARK. Man, I can't resist a man who can turn a witty phrase on the spot.
- What’s your favorite moment/even involving this character? I mostly like Barquiel for a sort of steady background presence of snark and badassity. I actually went over my write-ups to see if there was any particular scene with him I had remarked on, and the only one was the bit in the icon ("Some great undying love affair that turned out to be") even though I kept talking about how much I liked Barquiel much earlier. So I guess that's the moment?
- If you could have one power/attribute/etc. of this character, what would it be? I'll happily take the wit :)
- Have you ever pictured this character naked? Surprisingly enough for a Kushiel book, no, was never in a situation to need to.
- When did you fall in love/hate with this character? I you don’t have any strong feelings toward them, why not? I think from the first time he appeared in the Phedre books and was not fawning over Phedre or Delaunay, because it was SO GODDAMN REFRESHING!
- Who’s your OTP for this character? I don't have a romantic on for him -- I mean, he seems to love his wife, good for them, but we never actually meet them. Platonically, though, I do really like his relationship with Ysandre, so probably that as the platonic OTP.
Barquiel's running commentary of snark is a thing of beauty. He just does not give a fuck & it's awesome.

Barquiel's relationship w/ Ysandre is one of my favorites in the series. I do wish we got to see more of it than the glimpses we get, like I would've loved to see their reunion in Mercy. Considering how hard it was for him to see Ysandre turn against her own people, not to mention him & Alais, it must've been intense.

I think part of the reason I was enjoying Barquiel's snark so much, especially in Phedre's trilogy, is that he was snarking about a lot of th things that were annoying ME.

Yeah, same. I know that was not the point of that book, but it wouldn't have been that hard to fit into Imriel's POV.

Yeah, same. I know that was not the point of that book, but it wouldn't have been that hard to fit into Imriel's POV.
