Look at me! Reading and all!

14. Emily Tesh, Silver in the Wood -- this was a charming novella from an author whose fic I like. I liked it a lot. It is ~Victorian-ish m/m, but the pairing/leads dynamic is not in the top 3 of the things I liked about it, probably not even in the top 5. Not because it's bad or anything, just, the novella's strengths ( Read more... )

Ah, thank you for digging that up! :D

So apparently -- reconstructing from comments on File770 -- the ceremony had originally been scheduled for 2 hours, and then, when GRRM sent in his pre-recorded segments -- apparently pretty close to the time of the presentation? -- the time was adjusted to 3.5 on the program, but by that point some of the nominees had panels and things scheduled in the 1.5 hours of "overflow" ceremony, not to mention it was ending much later than it was supposed to for European nominees and American nominees celebrating shabbath. The live segments must've not over-rambled too much, since everything did fit in 3.5 hours, just barely.

It sounds like the con runners felt like they could not edit down GRRM's prerecorded segments to still make the original 2 hours schedule? And, yeah, there was no way for him to gauge audience reaction at all, either to the prerecorded bits, which of course could not have been changed anyway, or to the live bits either, until the whole thing was done.

Could not have been a fun time for anyone... :/
