Snowflake challenge, days 2-4

Back from our trip (good critters, good traffic, sad lack of zebras, a surfeit of little boys), and catching up on the last couple of days of Snowflake:

Day 2: In your own space, share a favorite memory about fandom: the first time you got into fandom, the last time a fanwork touched your heart, crazy times with fellow fans (whether on-line or ( Read more... )

Though that would mean I'd have to start actually checking that particular email, which I currently do maybe once every six months. XD

I do know this pain/dilemma, haha! (Could you set up a forwarding rule or something?)

(Especially given ah... the content that seems to be the primary draw for at least half of the Hexarchate writers. XD)

LOL, OK, yeah, fair point! The tonal mismatch is definitely there... I do know a lot of people who've READ both, but you could well be right about feeling fannish about them.

Oh, speaking of Hexarchate fics -- have you read my gift yet?

I have! :) (I'm not fully caught up on Machineries fic from Yuletide -- still somewhere in the middle of K's Miki fix, but have read a couple of the shorter ones, including that one). I enjoyed the Shuos family times and games -- and you're right, it's definitely both sweet and Shuos-y :)

It, and a couple of other fics, do drive home for me the fact that apparently the Cheris relationships I want to read fic about are, in order: 1) Cheris & Jedao, 2) Cheris and the servitors, and 3) maybe Cheris and Neja, or in general Cheris & her Mwennin heritage. (Possibly Cheris/Nerevor might've been on this list, but after how things ended for Nerevor, that just makes me too sad to think about...)

Ooh, quite possibly!

Also, lol, it occurred to me to go dig up what I think was her ff.net profile (since I recalled having author-favorited her) and, hilariously enough, one of the things she mentions in her profile (last updated 2004 :P) is that she'd recently created an LJ ...

... the link to which is forever lost to the ether after one of ff.net's crusades to delete everything that looked like a link from author profiles. XD ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(though who knows whether she's even around anymore after the various LJ-pocalypses ...)

2) Cheris and the servitors, and 3) maybe Cheris and Neja, or in general Cheris & her Mwennin heritage.

Yessssss. :D

Although it's funny, because one of my recent realizations via working on my write-up for Ninefox Gambit is that while my liveblog indicates I was initially more interested in Jedao ... by the end of the first book, most of my interest had shifted to Cheris.

Or, the Cheris-and-Jedao hybrid, I guess, since who knows if we'll ever hear the full answer on how much of which she is as of the end of Ninefox. :P

I'm definitely not opposed to the idea of reading more Jedao fic, but I think I'd actually be more interested in seeing Cheris-alone fic (post-Ninefox) than I would in Cheris & Jedao fic set during it. Which is ... not at all the direction I expected my interests to go in. :'D

still somewhere in the middle of K's Miki fic

... Thanks for reminding me that I need to sit down and read that too. :D
