ETA: and I keep forgetting to say, :D :D <333 at the thread title. :D

<3!

that the main character doesn't really like reading.

Oh, huh! I didn't know that, and on the one hand, I can see how it would make her harder to like, as a reader, but on the other hand, I can't help thinking that it's an interesting choice to make as an author, precisely because it's going to alienate your readers somewhat. We'll see how it works for me!

I think the vignette ebook is going to be mostly existing vignettes that have been posted to Tumblr etc. already, but IIRC there's supposed to be at least one new one. :)

That's my recollection as well, yep. But glad to hear that Matryoshka has some Cairo in it, too.

I keep hoping the library will send me the ebook. Aaaaany day nowwww. XD If it hasn't happened by the time I get back, I may just give in and go ahead and buy a copy. XD

Actually, looks like it's a lendable ebook in Kindle format -- want me to loan it to you?

Thank you for the Murderbot recs! I really enjoyed the Dr Mensah fic (wistful is a very good word for it!) And lol at the "Murderbot writes My Immortal" idea XD

Yep! It definitely was, and I absolutely respect the author for making it. It just also was one of the major factors towards tipping this book into the "respect but not love" category for me, I think. :)

... Sure, actually. :D I've been trying to devote most of my concentration during vacation towards finally catching up on my reading roundups, but there's also only so many hours a girl can think and type. :'D

I think I found the "My Immortal" story especially hilarious given Murderbot's earnest description of it being the maximally effective combination of tropes ... and, from what little I know of AI-generated anything, "turn everything up to 11 until it's ridiculous beyond the point of actually being good anymore" sounds like exactly what would happen if you set one on trying to write "the perfect" fic. :'D

Hopefully you've gotten the email with the loan -- let me know if not!

Yes! That was really believable, haha!
