46. I very much agree.

53. I’m very much for Peter&Hermione, too. They’d be really fascinating. And I mean, yeah Peter gets sidetracked at times and he’s not overly studious... but he is motivated and interested, and not just in magic either. I could see Hermione enjoy that.

54. Are you sure it’s not a camping guide?! :D

62. I love your answer to this one. Quite on spot. :)

re 65 - any loss, really. Take your pick. I was thinking about the sort of Helen Keller scenario of really needing to start at the beginning again.

78. Hm yeah... but can you see James attack Hermione? He’s a lot less likely to get physical with women... he likes getting physical with bullies. He must’ve been a hell of a head boy.

79. Obviously. :D

87. I had such a good time reading that one even though I know about half of the characters. (I have an inkling or two about Susan Ivanova, too. But I only read a Babylon 5 Book once... it’s not aired here these days and I only had so many shows I was allowed to watch growing up and my sibs were Trekkies.)

88. I love your creepy harmless mansion story, too. And I soooo agree that Sherlock would feel cheated and let everyone know he does. - And that Cordy would whine till someone comes and checks on her... :D

Yes, I think Peter and Hermione would get along really well. She'd find him a bit scattered, but in a fond way, I think -- like, a way that reminds her of her canonical friends (and while Peter's urban, largely immigrant family with tons of cousins is not exactly the Weasleys, I do think the 'close family with complicated dynamics' is close enough to what Hermione would have such fond memories of). Meanwhile, Hermione is capable and take-charge and has strong convictions -- not unlike Lesley before the betrayal. And their interests are compatible enough, though they'd go about them in different ways.

LOL!

Zoe and Kirk were an interesting pairing. He's enough like Mal that I could see them getting along really well eventually, but also enough NOT like Mal that I could actually see the two of them in a friends-with-benefits sort of relationship, which I never could with Mal. But it would definitely take some time. It seems like Zoe is in general a person who takes a while to warm up to someone, including Wash (per "Out of Gas" flashbacks).

I was thinking about the sort of Helen Keller scenario of really needing to start at the beginning again.

*nods*

I see. That's even worse/more severe than what I was imagining. Cordelia would SO hate not being able to express herself. I mean, everyone would, but I feel like Cordy is so prone to just saying what's on her mind that she'd hate it more than the average person even.

I definitely don't see him initiating a fight with Hermione, no. But I could see trying to physically restrain her or wrestling her away from someone she was attacking if she was in the course of committing a crime (I think we've seen that with female murderers on the show). I was assuming it would have to be something like that for them to be fighting in the first place.

I'm glad! :D And if you enjoyed the plot, you may enjoy In Other Lands, where Elliot (the 'script-writer') hails from -- he's the main/POV character there, and I tried to stick close to his sensibilities for the story. It's a portal fantasy YA, which is not my usual sort of thing, but by an author I like a lot, and has been one of my favorite books this year.

Sad that you missed out on Babylon 5 the show! (I've leafed through but not read the books, but most of them are not very good, from what I gather, while the show really is, and holds up pretty well after 20 years). Anyway, it seems to appear and disappear on various streaming services, so I do hope you have a chance to watch it at some point!

And I soooo agree that Sherlock would feel cheated and let everyone know he does. - And that Cordy would whine till someone comes and checks on her... :D

That was another really fun scenario! :D

Very much so. He’s like a slightly nicer version of Mal... and I think Zoë could get behind that. Not sure about them getting together. But possibly, I guess.

She very much would. I think there’s a Stargate Atlantis episode where their resident smart guy is facing some sort of brain sickness (dementia?) and he’s really, really, really, really upset because he thinks that by the time that takes over there’ll be absolutely nothing left of him... and I haven’t watched that show in ages, but that episode could tear your heart out because the guy’s really obnoxious most of the time, but it’s such a scary thing to lose control of your senses... and you could relate to his panic.

True. Could be the sort of LBoF scenario only with him being the one to restrain her. That’d work.

I’ll try to remember to keep a look out for it... the months before Christmas aren’t easy on me, fiscally speaking. We have quite a big family and there are birthdays on top of Christmas to cover. :)

I’ve been meaning to give it a shot for a while. But as mentioned above... it’ll have to wait. I mean unless they over it on amazon prime eventually. But last time I checked it wasn’t free and if I have to pay I tend to prefer buying dvds rather than streaming rights. - The book I read was pretty ho-hum, but I think most tv-show based books tend to be. At least the ones I read. Oddly I’ve read fanfic I liked better than the media it was based on but I can’t really think of published books I liked as well as or better than the original story.

Not sure about them getting together. But possibly, I guess.

I mean, it's not a pairing that would occur to me on its own, and it's not one of those things that the meme suggests and I go, "Wow, I never knew I wanted that, but it would be SO GREAT!", but when prompted by the random number generator, I can envision circumstances under which it could happen :)

B5 does appear to be on Amazon streaming only for $, although season 1 is reasonably priced as $5 (at least for me in the US...) Past that, it looks like it's cheaper to buy the DVDs -- which I tend to prefer also.

*nods* Yeah, sounds about right. :)

There's an okayishly priced version here (they seem to have removed online versions altogether though), but I think I'll keep with my own little superego method of buying things I don't *need* to buy... wait a day for very cheap things, a week for semi-cheap things and longer, the more expensive it gets. Tends to work well for me. :)

Aww, that's annoying that there are no streaming options at all. While I prefer to own actual DVDs for things I will rewatch, I do find streaming to be a good way to dip my toes into a show, since I'm more willing to take a chance on a couple of bucks for a couple of hours/episodes.

wait a day for very cheap things, a week for semi-cheap things and longer, the more expensive it gets.

That's a neat approach! I think I subconsciously do something similar, although I'm happy to have people talk me into making a positive call on something earlier :) (The splurges tend to be things I don't have a problem affording, just a question of "is it reasonable to spend this amount of money on something so frivolous" / "do I really nead to own this" kind of deal.)

I'd prefer having a first impression, too. But the price will be doable by the time I get to it. :)

I'm easily convinced, too. Just need to safeguard against spending money I should spend on something useful for leisure stuff instead. But my little rule helps with that. I'm part packrat and part accountant, I think. :D

Hee! I could definitely describe myself that way also. But the packrat part has more fun :P

That's definitely true. But if the packrat wins too many matches it can give you a bit of a headache for the rest of the month...
