4. Smoke and Shadow, part 1 (AtLA comics) -- OK, this one actually sort of begins to redeem the Ursa storyline that so disappointed me in The Search. ( Spoilers! )
I still wish we'd gotten to see all that as part of this book rather than some future short story/novella... it seems like a key part of what needs to be addressed!
I do think Damen and Laurent would make very complementary rulers, with Damen's natural charisma and command and expertise in military and Laurent's showmanship and political expertise and skill at intrigue. So, they'd make a good team. But just from a practical standpoint I'd like to know how it's all going to work! Where are they going to live?* How are they going to reconcile the VERY DIFFERENT political and legal structures of the two kingdoms? Where are they going to get an heir? (though to that last question, a friend linked me to an adorable fic where a bunch of daughters Damen fathered on the Vaskian women that time in book 2 show up on their doorstep)
Anyway, I'm looking forward to the post-canon story/novella, but really feel like that should've been part of this book!
*I cannot recall if you've read Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel's Legacy books -- I either vaguely remember or just assume that you have, but that might be completely wrong -- but they do feature an arrangement between rulers, so I can see them work out something, but would really like to know what specifically.
