Cairo/Niko, part 2 hamsterwoman January 22 2016, 07:02:35 UTC
who travels more
They are both deep space captains. I think it's safe to say that it's kind of a tie.

who spends more cash
It seems like their ships are the only things they spend money on, and Macedon is bigger, plus Azarcon is rehabilitating all his hoodlums and letting them take art history classes and donating money to orphan funds, so he spends more.

who buys the things in infomercials
Ryan, when he's bored. But Cairo actually tries out the cooking gadgets, and some of them are pretty handy.

who draws in the dust on their cars
Dorr. He draws, like, winky faces and writes "love, Cairo" in the dust of... Turundrlar? let's pretend spaceships get dusty, OK.

who starts the snowball fights
Also Dorr, most likely. But then, like, Azarcon decides that it would make for a good joint exercise to stage a snowball battle, involving both crews and thousands of snowballs worth of ammunition.

who throws away the directions to things
Cairo. He knows EXACTLY where he's going and what he is doing, thank you very much, he doesn't need some piece of paper to tell him what to do.

who puts up holiday decor
Of the two of them, Niko, who seems to be much more interested in ritual -- probably a cultural thing. But for the human holidays -- Evan, with Ryan's rolly-eyed help, Sid's actual manual labor, and Erret's supervision trolly assistance.

who is more likely to forget to bathe
I guess I can more readily see Cairo letting basic hygiene go if he's in the midst of something more important, but I don't think that's particularly likely.

who gets more obsessed about things
Hahaha. Not that Niko is a slouch, but Azarcon is kind of monomaniacal about, well, everything.

who sings in the shower more often
Cairo? He seems to find music helpful in other ways, but I'm pretty sure he'd never sing in public -- certainly not if it was part of his training under Falcone (which I'm still kind of boggling over the whole "first geisha" thing, but let's assume Yuri knows what he's talking about). But I could see him, like, turning up the music real high while he's in the shower and sort of humming with it.

Cairo starts laughing, and laughs so hard that tears come out of his eyes
my thoughts exactly! :D and Niko cannot comprehend and takes notes on human humor :DD (later Ryan will have a blast elaborating on them at everyone's expense)

The sweater is so adorbs ;A;

then hand it off to Yuri, to be properly loved :D
*shakes with laughter* i wonder if yuri realizes his appointed role in this book :DD he's literally doing the same shit as evan XD

Elaborate on why Cairo is Slytherin secondary? and why model? *curious*

ehabilitating all his hoodlums and letting them take art history classes and donating money to orphan funds, so he spends more.
<3 <3 <3 CAIROOOO.

I'm laughing so hard that from "who buys the things in infomercials" shippy meme answers turned into ensemble shenanigans, and no regrets XD

Haha, yeah, I can just see Niko's bewildered but curious and willing-to-understand look, while Cairo is laughing too hard to explain anything.

(Come to think of it, I don't even know if it's Doctor Grandma that knits the sweater of Ashrafi. For some reason I could see Ashrafi with a domestic arts hobby like that -- soothing and productive.)

Haha, that's a really good point actually! Poor Yuri, designated cuddler of woebegone fuzzy animals :P

re: Cairo sorting -- it's really hard, because I'm pretty sure Falcone's "upbringing" did a number on whatever he was naturally. He doesn't seem to be a burned anything at this point, but I'm guessing he probably was, before pulling himself back together. Anyway, I feel like he's Slytherin primary at this point, but secondary is harder for me. I think he ends up acting Slytherin-ly a lot -- his willingness to make use of people like Jos, to extend a lot of trust to the enemy he'd been fighting for 20 years, to lock down Austro, to torture prisoners when he sees it as the most efficient way to get where he needs to. Basically, his whole speech to Ryan about how he IS a pirate felt very Slytherinly to me -- but it's all stuff he (probably) learned from Falcone -- everything is a tool (like in Falcone's "pep talk" to Yuri about how geisha work should be just as transparent as everything else), and you use whatever tool best accomplishes the tasks, and there's no moral value attached to how you get there as long as the "there" is worth getting to. But I'm not sure if Cairo would've naturally ended up there without Falcone; I could see it as a Falcone-imparted model that Azarcon assimilated and made use of. For all I know, he might've chosen the Gryffindor way or the Ravenclaw way if he'd been allowed to grow up like a normal person.

What do you think his sorting would be, since it sounds like Slyth secondary wasn't it? :)

(Yuri, though, is such a Hufflepuff, the poor thing.)

I'm laughing so hard that from "who buys the things in infomercials" shippy meme answers turned into ensemble shenanigans, and no regrets XD

Yeah, that kinda happened. But you know that as soon as it's no longer romantic alone times (and quite possibly well before that), Erret would barge his way in, and Ryan would be hanging around eavesdropping, and and and.

ASHRAFI KNITTING omg here's a thing I hadn't known I needed! :DD

Poor Yuri, designated cuddler of woebegone fuzzy animals :P
laughing forever while Finch just nods in agreement :D

With Cairo sorting, I've no idea for the secondary tbh (I agree it's Slytherin primary!). I mean, it could be Gryffindor with a heavy Slythering modelling, or Ravenclaw with same (we don't know enough about how he makes decisions to gauge that I think). His whole 'shove your stupid orders where sun don't shine' seems a bit too inflexible for a slytherin (and like, doesn't really help him get along with authorities or whatever), and possibly only natural for a neutral slytherin, and yet this whole falcone upbringing suggests it's not neutral at all. so maybe gryf learnt to do impulse control with modelling slytherin? *scratches head*

Decided, then. Ashrafi knits the lumpy pilot!Santa sweater. That feels more appropriate somehow.

I think Cairo makes decisions too quickly to be a Ravenclaw secondary (front line military sounds like a terrible place to be for a secondary Ravenclaw, because you constantly need to be changing stuff, and you probably never have enough DATA).

He did manage to get along with authority enough to graduate from the Academy and get a Captaincy and put in charge of Macedon, so I think he's able to be flexible when he really needs to, and just thinks he doesn't need to most of the time -- I mean, he does live in his own floating city, basically, where his word is law, it must make it difficult to take orders.

But Gryffindor with a heavy Slytherin model learned from the pirates feels more right to me than native Slyth secondary, too. Maybe it's to do with what he did when the thing dearest to him was threatened -- seizing control of Austro was a very Gryffindor move, I feel. Probably also the most effective thing he could've done, at the time, but I'm sure there were ways he could play it later that would be less damaging to his career...

DATA, aww <3 (Speaking of Ravenclaw secondaries, did you know that CP3 will have some chapters from Laurent's pov? SO ExCITED!! Though Алеша Птицын вырабатывает характер и даже не читал ch1-2, released as sneak peak, out of the fear that I will simply expire :D)

And yes to everything you said about Cairo - I had Austro lockdown in mind as well when I suggested Gryff, too:)

I did not know about Laurent POV! That should be interesting! I am really curious to see what mix of exasperated and fond Laurent is re: Damen's obliviousness XD

Also, I'm very proud of your vyderzhka! :D

This decision was painful but necessary to ensure I survive until 2 feb :D i hope I'm rewarded for this by Laurent making hearteyes at Damen's abs. I NEED IT FOR SCIENCE OUO
