I don't know if it's just because it was a new series or what, but I had a lot of fun with this one! More fun than I remember having with even the PJO books I liked best. But it might be just that I was in the mood for relatively cheerful YA... sometimes it's hard to tell how much of one's enjoyment is due to the book vs the book hitting you at just the right spot. But I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did, regardless of reasons! :)
I loved PJ the original but somehow never finished - probably as once again I found them before they were "cool" and forgot to pick the last one (or two?) Up. I'm always for something lighthearted especially for when my anxiety gets up.
My friend aome introduced us to PJO before they were "cool" too (i.e. before the movie), and I liked them, but once I convinced the rodents to read them -- after they watched the movie -- they became much bigger fans than me, so now these are kind of "their" books. We have all the volumes at home, and a few even both in ebook and in paper form, so it would be very easy for me to catch up, but once it became clear he'd just keep writing books in this universe, I sort of lost interest...
I don't mind if they keep writing - so long as they keep it interesting. There's a certain point, ya know? I do love when my fave authors will actually branch out into something new though.
I'm usually all too happy for authors to continue the stories of the characters I've come to love... but I guess it didn't sound particularly organic to me, what Riordan was doing with the second series. More like tie-in for the sake of tie-in... (although this is just based on what I've gathered, not having read them -- so maybe I'm being unfair.)
Oh! *comes to a halt* Um, hi? :) I'm currently rereading, too. And putting things away as well. I even have at last a shiny new icon and all. Would you be willing for a DF discussion once in a while, if an opportunity happens? :)
And I skipped the first four and big parts of the fifth, too. However, no worries, recently I discovered awesome reminder infographics. :))) Links for the previous ones are below. I didn't really plan rereading, I just somehow got drawn again, because I had a DF entry in Rectober (a reccingathon, maybe you have seen it around) and short time later a friend of mine read 5 and 6 for the first time, and wrote her reviews, so...
Have you some DF entries at your LJ? Meta or anything? :) I've seen only your fics (Murphy would totally laugh her ass off at Harry/Thomas, yes *g*).
Added! Most of my stuff is f-locked, but I've started trying to review things more in depth. I haven't done any of the Dresden rereads yet, though I've made a few notes (I'm way better at responding to other people's thoughts than to making my own, sometimes). I'm also trying to up the goodness of my reviews this year, which is a process.
I know I've prattled about Dresden before, but I'm sucky at tagging, so I'm not sure I have anything good-good up. I started at Dead Beat because it's my all time fave (I mean, come on, SUE). I haven't read the most recent book, which is why I'm rereading the later books. I've read the first few enough times that I don't think I've forgotten much.
I see. I'll look in a free moment, and I'll be happy to read any thoughts you might write down in future. :) Feel free to roam all over my stuff in the meantime!
I've read somewhere one of Butcher's most recent interviews and apparently he regrets a little he used Sue so early in the series, because he's not sure if he ever manages to outdo her with anything. *g*
I haven't read the most recent book, which is why I'm rereading the later books. Lucky you, I'm among those climbing the walls because HOW LONG YET TO PEACE TALKS!!! *sigh*
I need to start writing thoughts down as I go, but... you know how it goes! I have theories about things, but I can't go into those until I get caught up, honestly, or I might be shown as stupid :P
There's no reason he can't REUSE her. I mean. SHE'S RIGHT THERE, MAN. USE HER AGAIN. I'LL SQUEE SO LOUD.
*ahem*
Because honestly if he did, I'd probably have a new favorite.
Oh, I'll be there in the next few weeks. I'm a fast reader, generally. I'm up to...Changes right now. So it won't be that long.

or I might be shown as stupid :P Hey, come on, if I let myself think so too often, I'd have never made up a blog or anything on my own in the first place. :)

I'd have never made up a blog or anything on my own in the first place. :) True, but still. Once I'm caught up I'll share or reshare my theories that I've had since, well, Dead Beat, honestly.
Sue would make a terrific babysitter. (We just found out about Maggie in Changes, though I've read it before, of course.) Bob and Sue would be... well, okay, dangerous babysitters, but good ones!
*notes book down* I need to read all his books anyway. Never did quite finish the PJ ones.

If I read it, I'll let you know what I think! However I'm in the middle of a dresden files reread, so it'll have to wait :)
