This is actually a Reading Roundup post, but since today is Talk Like a Pirate Day, certain duties must be discharged:

Ahoy, mateys, arrr, avast, etc.

I'd never encountered this before, so thanks to gehayi for linking it: Talk Like a Pirate Day Song by Tom Smith.

Ooh, yes please on the Zacharov and Desi fic. Do you do Yuletide?

Sadly, I don't write fic, merely gleefully consume it, at Yuletide and otherwise... But I'm glad I'm not alone in wanting to read Desi and Zacharov fic!

Damnedest thing... I get Error 500 whenever I try to view your LJ... but I peeked at your Dreamwidth, and, of course, I remember bouncing around upon the discovery that you were a Steven Brust fan in your sorting app, and we seem to have some overlap in reading, which is all to say, do you mind if I friend you?

Oh, feel free! I prefer reading on DW, but everything crossposts and I do look here too. My book review type stuff tends to happen over on Goodreads, though, which I'm guessing you don't use?

Yay, friended! :)

I do have a Dreamwidth, but the cross-posting became a hassle after a while (since all my icons live here on LJ and I kept having to go back and edit them in) so I've let that lapse...

I have a Goodreads that I never use, but there seems to be a critical mass of flisters posting stuff there instead of on LJ, so I think I'll need to bite the bullet and make a fannish Goodreads...

Yeah, I can see the icons being a problem.

I originally thought of Goodreads just as way of tracking reading stats and remembering when my next book club meeting was, but a bunch of people from the Literature subforum of westeros.org hopped over, and now I can have actual conversations about books as I read them! It is kind of awesome. Even if they keep changing the interface, occasionally in baffling ways.

I could crosspost, but . . . work. Monthly roundups, maybe. Anyway, I am ambyr over there too if you want to friend me.

I'm definitely not advocating extra work! :) Plus I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and at least read...

I wonder if it's possible to set up an RSS feed for whatever the Goodreads equivalent of a friendslist is... I find their interface(s) rather offputting :/ -- though possibly I would get used to it if I persevered instead of giving up right away

It does grow on you. (Kind of like fungus?)

I don't think you can set up an RSS feed for your friends updates, but you can certainly get individual RSS feeds for the people you want to follow. They're pretty ugly, though, IMO.

Hmm, good to know...

Also, I just noticed you have ursulav art icons! :D

Many of them! Although more over on Dreamwidth. Also rather a lot of her art in my apartment. She's one of my favorites. (And her art was actually a Yuletide fandom last year, which was a lot of fun.)

Oh, cool! I'm not nearly so hardcore a fan, but I do love her art, especially her assorted rodents. And recently L and I have been enjoying the Dragonbreath books, which we're finding equally delightful.

I remember seeing her art listed as a fandom in Yuletide and being much amused by that fact! :)
