Yup, it's Alex and Milo, although there are a bunch of other characters in it, like Petra Connor and some other detectives. Also, Rick makes an actual onscreen appearance -- has he shown up in any other books beyond Alex talking to him on the phone? Also, there are all these random Jews for some reason...
He does seem to be partial to them. Part of the reson I read Kellerman is the deft hand with minor characters, and part of the pleasure of *that* is the random Jew spotting :)
The ones in this book weren't really preternaturally good, though I agree with that observation in general.
Oh, definitely year-round, if you pick the right spot!
I think Jew-spotting is one of those cases of "takes one to know one". Ditto for Russian ex-pat spotting. It's kind of amazing that from a momentary glimpse one can usually identify those folks, even when they were small when they came here. When I drop in on my old high school, I have pretty much a 100% Russian kids identification rate (as validated by the attendance strips). It's almost eerie.
(My husband is surprisingly good for it for a non-Russian -- for anyone, actually. It's probably further evidence that he was a Soviet Jew in a past life.)

My husband sucks at it, incidentally. For all his jokes about my schnoz (which is, admittedly, almost incapacitatingly long), he can never spot a Jew.
