So, I'm working, sort of. Last day of work for the year. Nobody's around, and what I've left for this day are the mind-numbingly tedious tasks -- like cleaning up the "track changes" mess in a purchase spec, which could easily be done by a trained duck. Every couple of pages I'm giving myself the reward of reading some Yuletide fics. My favorites so far:

Addams Family:
The Bridal Path (PG, Wednesday/Joel Glicker)
Summary: She warned him.
It captures that ensemble feel that I love about the movies (and the old TV show)

Bordertown:
Changelings (G)
Summary: No one is ever cool when they first come to Bordertown.
I'm not even well read in Bordertown canon, so I know I was missing all sort os subtleties, and I still really enjoyed this story.

ASOIAF:
The Crooked Thing (Jaime slashfic (very subtle), PG-13)
Summary: "I whispered, 'I am too young,' / And then, 'I am old enough.'" (Spoilers through Storm of Swords)
Dude, Jaime slash. Including the Jaime/Loras I was asking about.

His Crown of Roses (PG-13, Renly/Loras, Margaery)
Summary: Her king and her knight tread lightly around Margaery. (Spoilers through part of Clash of Kings -- you can guess which part based on the characters -- so, aome, you would be OK.)
I'd actually been wanting to get a Margaery POV for a while.

Hand of the Crow (PG-13, Jaime/Jon subtle)
Summary: Jaime Lannister is unofficially exiled to the Wall. Jon Snow doesn't like him much. (Spoilers through Feast for Crows)
Lovely Jaime introspection. My view of the character may be different in one or two respects, but most of it reads as a perfect extension of the books to me.

Asimov's Robot series:
Hostage Negotiation (Susan Calvin gen, PG-13)
Summary: Dr. Calvin prefers robots to people, and this is one of the many reasons why.
It reads like a missing short from the Complete Robot anthologies.

Nice Work If You Can Get It (R, Powell/Donovan)
Summary: It was the only the beginning of a relentless campaign of terror and romance. (And I'm thrilled that's the summary because I *so* wanted to exerpt that line)
I love those guys -- my favorite robot short stories centered on them -- and if I'd known about slash back when I encountered them, I'm sure I'd have slashed the hell out of them, too. Donovan's my favorite, and the story has Powell's POV -- which was interesting, actually, because he's the one I never thought about as much. In fact, I think I'm going to go re-read it right now. And then find my Complete Robot and re-read some Powell/Donovan Powell and Donovan stories.

Fairy Tales:
In a Dark Wood (G)
Summary: On the nature of beasts.
An absolutely gorgeous retelling of the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale, that I would not be surprised to encounter in a published anthology. Featuring the only Beauty I've ever actually liked.
