A love-hate relationship...

I love the speed at which we can access things on the Web, but sometimes I really hate it, too.

I've submitted stories to various publications. To date, I only send my writing to those that take e-submissions. It's faster that way, and I save on postage, paper, envelopes, ink, etc...you get the picture (which is probably that I'm a cheapskate).

But at the same time, that speed makes me really antsy. My latest example is a story called "Old Nag" I've submitted to Way Out West, an anthology to be printed by Fourth Horseman Press. That was in July. Submissions closed Sept. 30. Their site says they'll announce the lineup "soon." And I still haven't heard anything. It's driving me batty.

Of course, it's probably not helped by the fact that I got quick acceptances for a couple of projects by gaan'eden, "Final Edition" for the Grants Pass anthology and "First Night in Jennings Grove" for the online zine Edge of Propinquity.

Of course, one of my latest acceptances was for a short story I submitted to the online horror zine The Late Late Show.

I'm also waiting to hear from Fourth Horseman Press about a short story for their Revelations magazine.

"Ed Gruberman, you must learn patience."
"Yeah, yeah, patience. How long will that take?"

Current project: "Final Quarter," a post-apocalyptic pirate story.
