My sweet boy Buster

My hammy Buster, who was the sweetest, calmest, most relaxed hamster ever passed away. I let him out to have some out of cage time last night, but as the night went on, he didn't return... This morning I searched my closet and found him... he must have climbed onto my coats and fallen :C :C My poor little boy, he was just a little short of seven ( Read more... )

I wish I had a "sad" userpic, this one seems inappropriate. :( typicalfemale October 25 2009, 15:51:32 UTC
He looks very sweet and I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Hamsters will do that stuff even if you DON'T let them out intentionally - I found my current hamster chilling out on my closet floor once (which was on the other side of my apartment) and also hiding behind a bureau a few weeks ago. One of my hammies escaped into a radiator and the only reason she didn't get hurt was because it was summer and not on. They sneak out pretty easily sometimes so even if you didn't plan on having him out, this might've happened anyway. We try our best to give them happy lives and it sounds like his was very happy. So don't feel bad.

They tend to scurry around so fast that it's hard to keep an eye on them, but for your next one remember that these are some pretty stealthy beasts - I can barely take mine out without having to scurry about after them! They're like jello. So don't blame yourself.

I don't know if you have buried Buster yet but it would be a very sweet gesture to bury him with the teddy bear, I think.

thank you, he was such a sweetie... whenever I picked him up, he would just stay still in my hands and look at me like, "Hey! what are we doing?" He never caused any trouble or anything... waah.... :C

Awww...I'm so sorry. When my Bella died, I completely blacked out on the last time I fed her, and even though I know that I did feed her, I still feel like I starved her.

*hugs* I'm sure he was very, very loved.
