I can't find any active mice/mouse communities!

I haven't been the best hamsters member, but I'm in need of advice badly guys! I rescued a mouse today from the poor treatment of a friend and while I am aware that hamsters =/= mice, their care is similar. Does anyone have mouse experience? Any general advice on taming and comforting a small rodent? She is very sweet but VERY jumpy. And just to be curious: hamsters and mice? How do they interact?

I know I can google but I like personal experience too :)
