new news
well, i think the worst has come and gone... i believe her eye has finally "popped". initially its really disgusting and made me wanna not even look at her, but after the shock of it all, its really not that bad. she's a real trooper and takes it soo well that you cant stop lovin' her for something like that.
so lemme back-track... just a few days ago poor lil karas eye turned all red and the fur all around it was wet. she was constantly cleaning and scratching at that eye, so much so that she scratched (or groomed) away all the fur around it; so its just pinkish-purplish skin surrounding her cloudy, flat-looking eye. there was some blood stains on her fur as well. the first day she would sleep with that eye open, but now she closes it, only opening it a sliver.
i hope im right. i hope its "popped" because i cant imagine seeing anything worse, and i hope shes ok and will heal up soon. :( the closest vet that will see a dwarf hamster is actually pretty far and costs $45 just to walk in the door!! we just cant afford that.
however, on a good note, she seems perfectly well. shes still running in her wheel and eating like normal. she seems a lil more cautious now and slightly nervous when being held, but shes still her cute, adorable, cotton-ball-like self!! :D
her other eye is very buldgey and i have a feeling she'll have to go through this again. i feel bad. but i hope and think she will be alright.
