I was just curious if any of your hamsters climbed on bars on their cage, dangle then let themself fall, then do it over agian. My hamster does that. I swear she's insane. I love her though. She's in a super pet cage so she has plenty of room, her wheel thing is only in there during the day and I play with her alot ( Read more... )

She's probably just trying to escape, which is what hamsters do best. :) All the hamsters we've kept in wire cages did the same thing. I think it's normal!

Balloon spends all her waking hours dangling from the top - I'm not sure if it's because she knows there's a door in the top of the cage too. It's so funny because she seems incapable of climbing down again. she just hangs with this kind of "ummmm, what the..." expression on her face as her grip slowly loosens! Ah, she's crazy. Ilove her :)

But yes, I've never had a hamster who didn't do that.

Wedge is doing that right now...she's such a dork. I look at her and I'm like "You're not getting out! Give it up!" but she doesn't listen. It's normal. All of my hamsters have done that.

She climbs up the side monkey bars over the top, falls on her bum and then does it all over again

Lol yeah he looks about as if to say "that didnt happen"
Occasionally he'll go in his little house to hide like hes embarrassed lol

Even though I'm a very new hamster owner, I've already seen Humphrey climbing the walls, falling down, and doing it again. I've also noticed he's VERY thorough on checking if there is any escape! Wow, these guys are really obsessed with doing that, aren't they?!

mine does that, but when i open the door to the cage he doesnt try to run. it makes no sense to me
