how long to wait before trying to tame?
i had posted on here about a week ago about my new dwarf hamster and his bar biting addiction. as cute and sweet as he looked, he had to go back to the store. i tried everything and he only wanted to chew on the bars and it was so loud! no one in the apartment could sleep, so back to the store he went. i was so sad. i was worried it would give him a complex or scar him for life. my bf laughed at me but i told him hamsters have feelings too ya know.
when i took it back i got a syrian bc i saw it and fell in love! i love his coloring and the dark eyes. (i cant have a pet w/ red eyes bc it freaks me out way too much) i want to leave him alone and let him get used to his new environment, but how long should i wait to try and tame him? i was thinking a week and then i would start w/ the "hey heres my hand" bit and then food in my hand. im just so scared that he will bite me and ill scream and he will hate me forever. do they still respong ok if you have gloves on? its a different smell than me is what im really concerned about. i know it cant be rushed, but can you wait too long? i try to talk to him everyday and he looks at me seems to be getting used to my voice, which is good. thanks for any little bit of help.
