First train got stuck in a mud slide.
Replacement train broke down.
Got my money back at noon and they threw me on a bus. But the bus gets a flat, so it’s late for the connecting train. Gotta wait now, for another bus that will get us to another train.
Hours later and finally… I’m on a last ride straight to home. But a little girl who thinks it’s funny to throw rocks at trains, hits the conductors window, cracks it, and waddya know… time to find another bus!
14 hours of cramped bus rides, and I’m somehow in Newport Beach, back at my place.
At least there were plenty of single serving acquaintances willing to share their wine, eggnog, and vodka…

I get back and for the first time, this feels like home. More like home than the ol’ house in San Jose. I know I can rest here. I know every holiday stress will fade to nothing. Goddamn! I’m HOME. How surprising, and how wonderful, to feel so completely comfortable.

But the vodka still lingers, and the friends are at the club, so... time to roll!
Dance floor is packed, someone got me too many shots, and it feels great after sittin on my ass all damn day. So I start a circle, haven’t opened one myself in years, and goading one intoxicated dancer after another to hop around while we cheer, is enough fun to make me forget the strangeness of the day. Nobody drops to the floor, nobody’s got skill to keep it goin, so I spin out to the middle and bust out old tricks. Upside down is extra tough after so many drinks, but the body still knows the moves that my mind is too hazed to comprehend. We all keep jumpin till closing, and then I end up outside by myself, with a huge grin, while people I’ve never met thank me for the fun.
“hey, were you the guy dancin out there all night? Yeah I remember those Converse! Great moves baby… get home safe!”
word. home.

I gotta stay fly, igh, igh, igh, igh, igh, igh, igh, igh
Till I die, ie, ie, ie, ie, ie, ie, ie, ie

HAPPY - HOLLA - HOLLA - DAYS
