First day
I had my first day as Laboratory Manager at Remet today. I got started early and left late. Yeah, I can see how this is going to go.
Seriously, though, for a first day it was pretty good. The people I'll be working with day to day are pretty cool. I'll be getting paid Friday as well. No 3 week waiting period there.
Odd things about today:
-My desk once belonged to an Alfred U grad named Jeff who was lab manager before me. He now has a bad case of cancer and is on permanent disability. I still have to go through all his stuff to figure out what needs to stay and what needs to go back to him.
-I've already been required to sign off on timesheets for people I've just met and bills for orders I've never seen. Glad to know that at least my signature is useful on day 1.
-I'll be required to purchase Egg McMuffins if I screw up too bad. Of course, one of the part-time guys, a college student, related his first McMuffin purchase, where he got them without egg. Ironically, that's an offense worthy of requiring the purchase of Egg McMuffins.
